To all things, change must come. After reading all the comments on this board following yesterday's loss to App, I believe it's time that the fight song be rewritten so that when we sing it, we'll really mean it. With that said, here goes:
Here's to the school we love We're sometimes TROJANS all. We will always cheer for victory, But you best not let us fall.
Here's to T R O Y We are with you most of the way. So get out there team and fight, fight, fight, But you better win today.
And that, my friends and fellow TROJANS, is the vibe given off by this board yesterday and it sucks. I'm not calling for blind loyalty, but good grief, some agreement that progress has been made would be nice.

Bubba....here is my take. 4 years ago, we were one of the best G5 Programs with a winning percentage. Then we ALL know how hard we fell with the talent we had from our last staff.
Saturday lost, it showed that we have came along way from our last game of the 2021 season. Our fans love Troy....and the passion is getting the BEST of us; because, WE want our Team/School We Love to be the BEST G5 Program and we was ONE play away from beating the team which is one of the cream of the crop in the G5 now.
After Saturday game, if CJS can get them ready, we should be a 10-2 or 9-3 team, winning the West, going back to Bone, NC on December 3, 2022 for the Conference Championship. Trojan Nation, Let's Claim it. See yall Saturday in Troy.

What an interesting thing it is, the psychology that says "if we lose; if we show any form of weakness; accept in any way a realistic version of things that is anything other than total, outright, nuclear-force 'win-ness' in every single iota; every single nuance; and in every conceivable way, then we then should obviously be considered wholly accepting of being losers, a defeatist organization, accepting of excuse, accepting of mediocrity and accepting of ...what is it this segment of our fanbase says...an "awww shucks" rationalizing away of accountability and responsibility and are therefore totally and completely not worthy and absolutely irredeemable and should be void of respectability.
It's an outrageous pedestal and an incredible amount of pressure to place on a situation where every single Saturday, one side will win and one side will lose. All amount of psychological jujitsu and mental masterbation that can be mustered from this perspective in the fanbase will have zero positive "win-result" impact on the outcome of the games. In fact, that much unrealistic pressure placed on any individual, team, or organization is more probable than not having a negative effect and counterintuitive to our desired outcomes.
There are always those few fans. Those who think anything less than a 12-0 season with a national title win is just simply not worthy of existing and should be railed against and abolished no matter if your are the University of Georgia or you are UMess. It's dumb. It's immature. It's the mentality of a mouth-breather. No legitimate, great leader held in historical high esteem takes this sort of mental approach to things be it business, sports, personal life goals, or war.
The Troy board has more than its fair share of them. Lawd, help us...
It is not either "a 12-0 season or completely not worth it". It is not "every play better be positive yards, points scored, or "fire the coach". What discontent that mentality leads to! You can see it in that gameday thread. I couldn't watch the game live but I could read along with the board and watch the scoreboard on ESPN. That was an interesting perspective to see some on here frothing at the mouth and considering the current state of Troy to be utterly destitute but yet we would've beaten App had that tipped ball just fallen differently.
My hope keeps being that it will dawn on some of these Troy fans how irrational (and foolish-looking) their approach is. To no surprise, I keep being disappointed.

What you're implying is that some Trojan fans don't see the forest for the trees?? I prefer to think that most of these weekend "Drive-by" Trojan fans suffer INEBRIATION on Gameday rather than psychological or mental flagellation. Most wake up on Monday morning and forget about message boards. Like you stated, "There are always those FEW Fans". Not enough to waste words (and a lot of 'em) on.

Game day thread is for entertainment value only. They are fueled by well liquor, fireball shots, and ED. They mean well they just let their passions over come them. I like to to read it With eggs, bacon, and Don Julio on Sunday mornings.

It's definitely a part of it and where this sentiment may get amped up due to inebriation but it is still there and in the personalities of certain ones who post on any given day.

This post’s nuance and detail of the psychological bend into the thoughts, feelings and emotional state of the Troy Trojan fan base is one to behold. Could have overthought this one. Been on this board for a while, dont recall a poster every conveying if we don’t go 12-0 it’s not worth it. The human being is programmed to be irrational about things they deeply care about. For me, I love it, this irrationality is what makes college football truly the best sport in the world. Can’t imagine this board with the same five posts stating that we are the perfect team just the way we are, the coaches dont make mistakes and we will try hard again next week.

So, what you guys are saying is “not all of us have two oars in the waters of reality?” Gosh I am so glad that this is not me! All I have is an alter ego pet weather aardvark who does game forecasts when he is not inebriated or having his identity crisis (which is currently identifying as a platypus) Now thiose are issues not even the 12-0 season could fix.

It's a bit of hyperbole, bud. I don't literally mean that someone has said that, although we're two games into a season with much to celebrate and get excited about and we've got at least one who thinks they're done for the season *eyeroll* You all gotta know, sometimes with work I'm sitting around waiting on something with nothing more to do that read along. I don't really post too frequently. But when I do post, I'm thinking out loud and filling time waiting so it's probably a bit of bloviation. But hey, it's a chat/message board so...I"m taking full advantage when I do post.
