First time in three years I am optimistic about the football team. I think you are going to see more focused and detailed practices and the social media dept is doing a much better job covering it. Just the first practice but they look more focused and practicing with a purpose. Looking forward to T-Day April 23. Go Trojans

Agreed Stet. Although you do have to wonder if the social media coverage is better because they can only make great content if they have access and HCJS seems to have no problem giving them access.

They will probably get more done in this one practice than with a season of... that other guy.

Let’s be honest a dufus in charge of things often gives the impression (if things are covered well by media) we are a bunch of dufies. So sometimes you just don’t want to cover it to close.
That is now UCF’s dufus!

He learned some things while here. Get the students excited, get the fan base excited and keep them posted and engaged. Night and day difference

It’s only day one and I like what he said already! Something in the effect of it’s great to be out on the grass watching players fly around but we have to get better for tomorrow!

Troy Messenger had a pretty in-depth write up. Even discussed a dust up that happened among a couple players. Coach handled it all in stride and seemed to appreciate the intensity and "preferring to have to say whoa, whoa, whoa rather than giddy up".

Coach handled it all in stride and seemed to appreciate the intensity and "preferring to have to say whoa, whoa, whoa rather than giddy up". www.troymessenger.com/2022/03/22/troy-football-opens-spring-practices/(HCJC shared lots of detail. One may have to be an online subscriber for access, but who knows?) Newcomers that HCJS mentioned: "There were a number of new faces among the Trojan players, including former Pike County receiver Jaidyn Wilson, who has transferred to Troy from Southwest Mississippi Community College. Other new faces include former UAB receiver Rajae’ Johnson and former Tennessee State center Jeremiah Frazier, both of which will be competing for starting spots going into the fall. Johnson stands out among Troy’s current crop of receivers at 6-foot-4-inches and 224 pounds and quarterback Gunnar Watson took notice, as well."

I still can't get use to the practice schedules. They practice again on Thursday at 8 AM? Is Troy on Spring Break or does nobody have 8 AM classes?

They schedule afternoon classes on those days; we practiced in the mornings for spring in the past as well. Still boggles my mind. Granted we were on a quarter system but we couldn't take a class after 1 pm because of practice. i remember if you were a Business Management Major (my major) you had to take a class called Policy and Decision Making to graduate and you took it your last year and it was only offered Spring quarter and the class was Tues and Thurs from 2-4:30 We always had a fifth year senior that was going to play his fifth year and had to take that class. Coach would gripe and complain because they were late to practice two days a week lol. Never in four years didn't have a 8 am class. Times have changed. It amazes me with all the different majors that everyone on the team can have classes in the afternoon. Pretty cool coming from this old guy

I see no need to start a new post just for this, but your beloved spread offense is gone.

I don't mind it. Neal Brown had already changed it up. He emphasized the run game A LOT more. I think you're going to see something very similar to what UAB/App State currently have... the run will compliment the pass, TE's will be used much more... it'll be an offense where you might see 300+ yards passing, or you might see 250+ yards rushing.

Yeah, I imagine there will be some similarities. I'm hoping we can find a Chunn style back. In related news, Charles Strong is back at running back after playing LB last season. Maybe the new OC will use his talents well.

That Works thing has a interesting phenomenon our staff and Craddock in particular are finding. If something does not quite fit right look at what Coach Bed Pan did and use the opposite as your default position. I AM SO GLAD THST I WILL NOT HAVE TO SIT IN THE STANDS AND KNOW FOR A FACT WHAT WE ARE DOING ON MORE THAN 50% of our plays. Probably closer to 70%. I was apoplectic with how easy Captain Bed Pan was for D coordinators to work against.

Pretty much a pro-style offense out of the shotgun. I have yet to see a single snap under center but tons of 12 personnel, out of a shotgun formation. We'll know a lot more after tomorrow I think. And yes, Charles Strong has gotten a lot of reps with the "ones" that I've seen.

Pro Style I don't think is what this offense is per say but when you hear Pro Style it can make you cringe. Is it Mark Fleetwood "Pro Style"? or Akron "Pro Style" or is it a North Dakota St "Pro Style" or a Alabama "Pro Style"
Personally I'm looking forward to a change. Even under NB our offense wasn't that great and under Head Scratcher it was AWFUL. Looking forward to Coach Popovich making the OL nasty again and Coach Hays getting our run game going. Great run game can make an offense have a great pass game because it opens it up. Doesn't work in reverse.

Guys, nothing has changed in our social media coverage in years. Access has been the same since I’ve been here. Yes, but instead of the content being a dark comedy that leads to tragedy, it is now an action adventure with a true hero in the lead role.

This season makes #27 as a TROJAN FB ticket holder. As much fun as the explosiveness of the spread can be, nothing in all of these 27 years has been as much fun as the way we dominated the Southland by lining up and smashing our opponents in the face for 4 quarters. When we held up 4 fingers after the 3rd in those days, it was for a reason...we meant it and we OWNED the 4th. Can we do that again? Can we line up and smash our opponents in the teeth and have them so beat down by the 4th that they don't have a chance? I don't know, but if "Pro Style" brings that back. I'm the first one on board.

Unfortunately it don’t matter what type of offense we run if we don’t have the QB position etc well established,,, that’s still a major concern.
