I don't know how close Troy is to getting one... but I will say, UAB and USA don't have indoor practice facilities. They're considered "pavilions". In my opinion, they are glorified versions of the Pike County Cattlemen Park.
Arkansas State and Louisiana... now THOSE are indoor practice facilities, and nice ones to boot.

Let me clarify a few things. Don't bad mouth the "pole barns" because I'd bet good money ours will be exactly the same. In out part of the world, they are perfect, no need for the actual indoor facility. How did both of those schools get them and we don't have one? We graduate teachers and nurses, they graduate Physicians and lawyers... they also have corp. names on both of those facilities. For the record, I made fun of both of them until I saw them in person. They are very well done and I look forward to Troy having one.

Just my opinion that I've stated before. Not an efficient use of Athletic's $$$ unless multiple, year-round uses/needs are identified. The NCAA allows only 15 practice days each spring, within a 34-day window. Actual Spring practice usage would max out at only 60 hours total. Weather has been cited as another primary driver of the initiative. Just deal with it (planning). Businesses work around unforeseen circumstances frequently.
1. The NCAA has strict rules for spring practices Teams get a maximum of 15 spring practice days, including the intra-squad game that typically caps a spring slate. This doesn't include sessions when players are limited to the film room or the weight room. Everything has to take place within a 34-day window, but spring break and exam days don't automatically count toward that. So some schools spread spring practices over a month and a half.
Teams are allowed to have practices over their schools' spring breaks.
Only 12 of a team's 15 practices can have contact, and the first two must be non-contact. Of those 12, only eight can involve full-fledged tackling. Of those eight, only three can devote more than half their time to 11-on-11 scrimmaging, and the spring game counts as one of those three. So teams only get two pure practices of 11-on-11 scrimmaging.
Practices aren't supposed to run for more than four hours per day or 20 hours per week, so coaches need to apportion time wisely. If they don't, it's a compliance violation.

Ringling Brothers and Barnum And Bailey Circus went belly up. Maybe we could get a deal on a circus tent. If its cheap Hawkins will go all in

Troy’s football program has been around longer than UAB’s and USA’s, yet they both have indoor football practice facilities. How is that affordable? This is on HCJS’s wishlist. Does anyone know how close Troy is from getting their own? Unfortunately this is absolutely the simple truth when it comes to this new generation in modern day recruiting,,, if Troy wants those top notch athletes they have to provide HCJS with all the bells and whistles indoor practice facility is a must have,, with that added no doubt Troy would probably have the top 3 best in G5 facilities overall. Indoor practice facility it’s very necessary,, and yes even on just South Bama would a excellent addition. Hell, even Georgia southern is building one

It took 10 years give or take unofficially to get the NEZ complex, We competed D1 in basketball for 20 years before getting the arena. With the new campus construction (most not needed) it will be years before Troy is financially able to get a indoor facility

IMO leveling the Nat and Garner and Hamill but that is my opinion. They weren't nice dorms but they were affordable for a freshman girl.

Not sure if we are top 3 overall in the Sun Belt. App St has a beautiful stadium and indoor, USA has a brand new stadium and indoor, TX St has the nicest stadium in the conference but no indoor (I believe) and GA Southern and Coastal Chickens are pretty even with us. The NEZ complex is very nice but it is on par with TX St, USA, App St and GATA. We are ahead of ULM, Ga St, LA LA and Ark St stadium wise for sure

No one had even been in the past year. They were not good and the female version of alumni which everyone agreed needed to be torn down. Community bathrooms are just not a selling point for kids these days. Also, the NAT was very very outdated and any update or renovation would have been much more than needed to be spent.

I think it’s great that Troy University is being proactive when it comes to meeting the needs of its students. The changes that I’ve seen over the past 30 plus years have been remarkable! (I stayed in the old Alumni Dorm).

Yeah, San Marcos so-so up close.

Not including South right now the two main schools we recruit against are App St, GATA We stack up very well facility wise against them and football tradition wise we are very similar to App St and GATA What worries me about Coastal is their Dir of Football and former HC has deep pockets and Wall St $$$ connections.

"Covered Practice Facility" would be the better term and depicts the most likely structure Troy would and needs to build. It will come as it would be a multifunctional area for the whole school. Also With Jacksonville State proposing a 80 million dollar upgrade maybe we will act sooner rather than later

I assume the goal is to be able to practice when it’s inclement weather, not to have a temperature controlled environment. No one plays in Air Conditioning unless one has a dome stadium. I’m sure it’s a lot more cost effective too!

I’m sure it’s a lot more cost effective too! Exactly. The purpose of indoor facility is inclement weather (especially up North) not to insure players don't have to practice in humidity or heat. You are going to play in heat and humidity in the south, better get used to it
