Hoping for the best for Coach Mullins but I have some serious concerns about the young assistant coaches running the program I don't think there is much to concern us with this early. We have already have one walk off win, and an extra innings win against UAB so, so far so good.

If true then we need to look outside of the program for a new coach. Current assistants are way to young

I think the biggest challenge in selecting one of our current co-head coaches is determining which one is the head coach. At least from the outside. Those closer to the program may know more about that inside track. I will say this: this team had every opportunity to have the wheels falls off, and so far it hasn't. To me it shows either one is capable of leading the program.
That said, I wouldn't mind looking around at the BEST options available, either. My real hope is that Mullins is OK.

Hire one of these Assistants...not some crusty old white guy. Whoever is in charge has kept the ship upright. This team is pretty young and competes.
And yeah, curious to know what happened?

Season isn't over yet, we will see what happens. IMO this staff is to young and inexperienced. One is 7 years out of college the other 4. However if the season ends up great then maybe. And Old White guy? Lord forbid we hire that like Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Tennesse etc did. That would never, ever work

I think Taylor Smartt will be a head coach of a D1 softball program one day. Quite possibly at Troy.
She's been around Troy athletics her entire life, is a TROJAN through-and-through, is a great leader, she played at Troy and started in nearly 200 games, and has been an assistant coach now at Troy for 8 years.
And Holly Ward has quite the resume herself. She actually played professional softball, so she knows what it takes to be excellent.
With that said, I'd be open to a national coaching search... and if Holly Ward or Taylor Smartt wind up being the best candidates, I'm all for it.

Nothing against her at all, but that sentence also fit her dad and that didn't work to well. Lots of variables to look at. #1 although we have showed improvement we can't get over the hump A) against ULL B) in confrence tourney. Can they recruit? Can they sustain a program? If they are the best fit so be it but I still think 25 and 29 are to young

Both have earned the interview and I believe both would be good. Though I am wondering if their gender has more to do with it for Stet than age and experience. Neither matters if you got it you got it if you don't ya don't

Personally I think we need a older coach and someone from outside but If Brent thinks a 25 or 29 year old is the right fit so be it and I will support that decision

So... does anyone have a general idea of what's going on with Beth Mullins?
It's concerning that she takes a medical leave of absence and out of nowhere, she resigns. That's a tough decision made by her, so there must be a great reason for it.

Maybe she wants privacy on a medical issue but it seems like if it was a medical related issue that would have been the reason for resigning.

Not bad for a couple of young up and coming coaches.
