Troy should seek the BEST person for this job. We don't need no more non experienced person for this job. The Sunbelt is getting stronger each day; by, quality teams joining, and other teams are hiring high profile coaches. Coach (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) has set our program back 3 and a half years. By taking a chance again, will set the program further back.
We need to bite the bullet and seek a dam good coach which the players, staff, Administration, and fans will respect to pull us out of this downward spiral.
The Sunbelt is positioning itself as the Top Group of 5 conference. We don't need another experiment. We need results.

Who was the last "experienced" coach Troy hired in your opinion?
Are you saying we nab another HC from somewhere? If so do fired HC's qualify simply because they have HC experience?
Many here b!tched because Neal was not "experienced".

Neither was Larry Blakeny. I want to hire someone who can make us winners again. That may or may not be someone with experience. I think it is very arrogant of us to think that we are above hiring someone w/o head coaching experience. Let's face it, Troy isn't a destination location, and after the debacle that was the last 3 years, it's no longer a destination job. We've hired 3 football coaches since 1991, 2 of whom had no HC experience. I'd say we did very well with the first 2 of those inexperienced coaches.

I’d make an exception for one fired coach. The Cookie Monster! Just for the press conferences alone.

I have NO individual in mind when I ask this question!!! I am NOT trying to stir people up, just would like to hear some outside the box thinking ... I have NO idea why, other than a "gut feeling", BUT I think we ARE going to hire someone WITH college head coaching experience in order to make Troy relevant immediately in SBC football championship conversations. I am NOT thinking retread! NOW WHO (not everyone is driven by money) would match up to those qualifications AND be comfortable in the Troy setting AND have the requirements I think most of us want? Seriously think about this BEFORE you respond and try to NOT derail the question immediately

Is the next coach gonna keep some key staff. Most everyone here agrees that DC Hall has made the defense really good with the personnel on the field. Most new Head coaches clean house so to speak in bring in all new. I would like Hall to stay but I understand that a greater opportunity maybe awaiting him.

Seriously think about this BEFORE you respond and try to NOT derail the question immediately I honestly don't think there are too many people who fit all of those. With most of the "good" FCS programs moving to FBS, those coaches are much more inclined to stay right where they're at. MAYBE Justin Fuente, but no one else immediately comes to mind who has HC experience.

He has had plenty HC experience, money wouldn’t be a factor, and I think small town Troy wouldn’t be a huge shock to him since he’s only in Pensacola. Biggest con it’s been at the DII level or lower.

Bob Stoops to Troy. Now that would be a splash and a half!!! John Gruden as OC would be a nice combo

Troy_Fan_15 No, I was not hinting at Shinnick (you are correct, not experienced at a high enough level). Troyjan95 good list, meet the parameters I threw out, BUT lots of O L D guys (I CAN say that because I realize ever day that I relate less and less to my students). Tom Herman raised my eyebrows.

Nick Rolovich? Previous HC at Hawaii and most recently WSU before getting fired. He’s not old since he’s only 42. Probably wants a job so I feel taking a job making $750-800k plus what he gets from WSU wouldn’t be an issue. Tom Herman? Major Applewhite? Justin Fuente?

The Washington State guy was mentioned as well as Major Applewhite - forgot those two

West Virginia defensive coordinator/outside linebackers coach Jordan Lesley is a candidate to replace recently-fired (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) as the head coach at Troy.

Not sure if in the cards to keep Hall but if possible a new Head Coach would probably benefit from having him around another year. As to Whitt..........................ALL the difference in the world how our players look and strength. He is obviously a big component in having the talent. Keep HIM if we can as well.

I don't particularly like it but I can read Coach Sabans lips, probably want to hold your kids ears around him too. And Kirby Smart, uh yeah, hold your kids ears.
