My last game was unfortunately a loss to Marshall in Huntington, WV in the semifinals. I didn’t know the story until after that loss. Great crowd involvement at that game. Great fan base. To TROYSTET’s post, my first start was in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. Man those folks hated us (in the fun way); it was a great atmosphere. Pretty awesome career bookends… As I step back, how blessed I’ve been - in general, to be a Trojan, and to represent my school as an athlete! Go TROJANS!! As Not to derail the thread, but... I was in the SOTS at that game. Coldest football game of my life! I had four layers on under my uniform and I was still freezing. I don't know how y'all got out there to play a football game. I know you're an athlete and a sportsman, and you don't make excuses and stuff, but I always thought the fix was in on that game. There was one really bad call I remember involving Orlando Parker where they said he went out and back in to get a pass. I couldn't believe what they were saying. Well, thanks for your hard work and dedication - the SOTS works their booties off representing TROY so well! Lots of our team had never seen snow. I’d love to say that I’m tough and wasn’t cold, but that would be a lie! It was bone-chillin. Coldest game that I played in. The Dollar General Bowl might be the coldest I’ve been at a ball game tho - but may be because I was cheerin & not playin. The start of that game was a mess; the first 3-4 series… brutal. I woulda bet that we’d come back and win that game when we got back into it before the half. We were a 2nd half team. Didn’t pan out that game, Dang it!!

I'm from Mobile, born in jag territory, Trojan by the grace of God. Anyway, Dr. Long always said the coldest game he had ever seen was a Senior Bowl. I was just a kid but I remember being at that game. The wind comes in off the bay and tries to kill you.

If these Virginia schools join the mix maybe some late November games that are mighty cold for us. Jax state 2000 or 01? Ice and sleet the bleachers had ice on them. So very cold

View Attachment Oh yeah, it's just hideous. How do we ever get a recruit to come here with this facility The HOME side...lower level hasn't been upgraded since the 60's. An all chair-back lower-bowl would be a substantial upgrade. Our homestand's seating has zero to do with C USA imploding. If one wants a seatback, just upgrade a bit. We're not filling what we have.

I still think with that lower bowl we have some really nice facilities. Better than they used to be.

This stadium is 30 minutes from me, not a chair back seat on the home side, tickets are a mnimum of 5 times what ours cost and every Sat 80,000+ cram into it. Chair backs are nice but I bought a wide $25 stadium seat that works great

They can afford to as well. Florida gets a minimum of $20 million just for showing up every year. We don't have that luxury. The lower home side hasn't even been painted in at least 40 years. It looks old and dated.

I was just saying if lower bowl chair backs were discussed and the question arose as to whether those of us in that level would pay more for the seats, the answer, from me, is "Yes". If there are never chair backs in that area, I'll be fine with that and will keep the same bench backs I've had since the first year they were sold.

I want a leather recliner with a keg cooler on one side and an end table on the other full of snacks and a small grill on the top. Also a beautiful waitress to help with the grill and cooler. Oh, and one more thing --- A remote so I can change the game on the field so that Troy wins all the time.
I'm willing to pay a little extra.

New teams mean more competition...we can be content with our stadium all we want to, but the lower home side dates back to the 60's. We don't need to build a new erector set stadium...but we better keep things fresh or we will be left behind.

My Dad took his 8,9,10-year old son to many games for three years there. We met HC Ray Graves, QB Larry Libertore, RB Lindy Infante and many other Gator players of that time. We watched as Bobby Dodd JR, back-up QB for UF came in late and beat GaTech (then SEC) coached by, his Old Man Bobby Dodd! Jr scored on a 2-pt conversion late in he 4th. But I digress, nothing to do with C-doa imploding.

Stadium upgrades
I say suites in South end zone to close it in - two stories with standing room on top and maybe seats below or lounges below with standing room.
Push fans to upper deck on the visiting side
Would like to see designated space for military section seating much like student section.
Arkansas State has best home side in conference of stadiums I have visited.
App is okay, Georgia Southern is okay,am Sure South AL is nice but have not been yet Sure there are others that are very nice but we do need to think about renovations as conferences are realigning and making sure we stay at the top

We have been left behind, 2.5 years now. Don't hold your breath but they'll hit u$ up for Indoor Practice Facility next.

So we will too to be able to stay current. Is it essential? Not really but in this day and age where that crap Oregon had for jerseys yesterday is important one must keep up the arms race. So IPF or bust will be the next drive. By the way if you did not see it the Oregon jerseys looked like a bunch of pigeons had roosted on top of a canopy where below they had laid out the jerseys

So very cold Boone, Harrisonburg, and Huntington all have similar weather. One of my favorite games was a playoff game when the band played their halftime show from the stands so the snowploughs could clear the snow off the field. I love Boone weather in the late fall and winter!

Any conference that wants UAsB more than us is not a conference I care to join. Markets be damned, they’ll never have the intangibles for good football that we possess.

Not sure who come up with this list because they evidently have a drug problem. Ranking Akron ahead of Liberty and Georgia Southern for instance

Conference USA (Us Suck Alot) failed due to be a tweener. They initially had success due to the programs that came and went and the AAC will have a hard time doing that with their line up especially if SMU and Memphis leave. They hit well with Cincy and UCF and due to markets thinking they can have that success again is hard to see. Louisville did not have a good Kentucky. Cincy had Ohio State but it is a populated state and there was room for another program to thrive UCF was a product in the middle of arguably the best state for talent with a slightly waning FSU, UF and Miami and a massive massive enrollment (even if commuter) so they could sell a product that did not cost as much to follow. Memphis is in that boat with these guys SMU has a harder sell UNT is an ain't gonna happen in Texas UAB has a ceiling due to Aublow and Alacrapa Rice is in Tejas too and has WAY too many other good programs to be a draw. Charlotte has a potential but don't think they can oust or compete with an established bunch of others including APP st FAU is in Florida too but Lane Kiffin was their coach and that is like arsenic in your well. Maybe not but they are too close between UCF and Miami and the UF etc (maybe one day FSU again) UTSA it's Tejas and unlike Cincy and UCF probably does not have a big window unless the other Texas schools fall on their face and that includes the boys in the Big 12 who are going to be able to pull better than they do.
Long and short.............AAC going down the path of CUSA..................much like someone thinking a video rent store would now be a good idea since it really was big about 15 years ago.

I agree with your points, especially SMU and UNT. FAU is the only one that maybe can have potential and the only reason I am stating is that is enrollment and only having Miami ( a private school) to compete against. Yes the U has the tradition but their facilities are not great and they never had a stadium. FAU has a stadium and they are drawing students (we have people we know who kids are attending there and it is a good 5-6 hour drive away). USF is not ever going to be a force in football again with UCF and FAU having a stadium and better facilities. With the population explosion in Florida you will always have UF and FSU but then it is going to be UCF and then Miami and FAU with USF and FI Who getting the scraps

Your point about Charlotte is on target. They, like Georgia Staet (IMO) "bought" their way into FBS and really tried to play up the media market angle. Charlotte's average home attendance in 2019 was 12,319. Other FBS schools within a 2 1/2 hour drive of Charlotte for the same time period: - App State 23,806
- Duke 25,811
Wake Forest 26,999 - UNC-Chapel Hill 50,500
- NC State 56,466
- South Carolina 77,962
- Clemson 80,868
Source NCAA Attendance Records 2019
Charlotte's attendance record of 19,151 was in 2018 when App State came to town. They added bleachers to accomodate our fans. It appeared that we outnumbered their fans, too. Of the 100,641 App State alumni that live in NC, over 27,000 live in Mecklenburg and its adjacent counties. That doesn't count the ones who live just over the line in SC. IMO, an engaged fanbase beats a media market any day. Boone and Troy both prove that point. Give me an ardent fan in flyover territory any day!
