Love seeing football on during the week and I know we have a Thursday night contest against Coastal, but I can’t see how Tuesday/Wednesday games make sense for smaller schools. The crowd at this App State / Louisiana game is miserably small. Can’t be good for local economy. Does the ESPN money offset lost restaurant and hotel revenue for local economy? And guessing fans can’t travel as easily for a mid-week game. Thoughts?

Thursday's yep and Friday Yep. I really doubt the Tuesday or Wednesday are worth it. I even find myself just making sure it is not a RE-PLAY I am watching. The excitement level is just so low and I really don't think there is a good viewership on those two days (Tuesday and Wednesday). The typical college football fan is really use to the Thursday and occasional Friday game but most will just not sit down to a Tuesday or Wednesday game to watch. I think being on the end of totem pole in which we are it is kind of like living in a house you own. There are just some jobs that come up that you have to do like snake a toilet of kill mice or or or. Nothing you enjoy but goes along with living in and up keeping a house. There are RICH PEOPLE (and in this country if you make 35,000 you are in the top 5% of the world) but really rich people who hire all of that done and that would be the SEC and the BIG 10 etc. We in the more modest SBC and other G5 kind of have to snake that toilet every now and then. You know RICH people don't glog toilets or they (SEC) would like you to think they don't. So they don't get the Tuesday or Wednesday games.

Midweek games obviously don't bring in the same gate revenue as a Saturday game, so in that aspect they're not as good for the schools.
But what the schools miss out on in revenue, it's "made up" for in national exposure for the school. That exposure does a lot for branding, sponsorships, recruiting, attracting new students, etc.
Another thing is, at this level, you have to accept playing midweek games if you want any kind of national exposure. Matchups between Sun Belt, CUSA, MAC, Mountain West, and AAC schools simply don't attract the same viewership as SEC, Big 10, and ACC matchups on Saturdays...
Troy vs. Coastal Carolina on ESPN on a Saturday might get between 500,000 to 800,000 viewers.
Arkansas vs. Tennessee on ESPN on a Saturday will usually get well over 1 million viewers.
So because of that, it's hard for schools like Troy to get national TV games on Saturdays. So you either settle for midweek games on national TV where everyone from California to North Carolina is watching... or Saturday games where no one else in America is watching Troy play.. except Troy fans.
It is what it is... unless Troy becomes the next UCF and we start winning all the time.
I also thought it was replay at first and then I found myself enjoying it until I realized it was Tuesday and that could be us. I like Thursday and Friday games because it kickstarts the football weekend. Tuesday just felt out of place. I did however think that if our offense can show up we can beat both of these teams!
Revenue and exposure is what the athletic Dept is concerned about. Anytime they can get the team on TV they take it. The average fan, local businesses, players parents etc affected are not their concern. ESPN needs to fill time slots for advertising and these mid week games allow them to do that at a fraction of the cost of weekend games

trojantke: See if we can't dust this shout feature off: who's headed to the Southern Miss game and stopping at the Alumni Tailgate beforehand? I'll be there and would love to put faces to screen names.
