Here is my prediction on next HC. If (The HC we don’t speak of) beats Atlanta A&T and we get a bowl bid, out next HC is the one we have now

If he gets let go hopefully he would come back. It has been a less than stellar time for him but I believe he chose the wrong P5 job. I agree but I also think he left too soon. We were at the top of the Belt but not unshakable. We still needed that national recognition that as the very top of the G5, maybe if we’d beaten Boise. I don’t know many who would turn down the deal West Virginia offered. Unfortunately coming back to Troy would not be good for his career after what CL has done to our program. I wish NB would have stayed one more season. If he could have had a 4th straight 10 win+ season he would probably be at a better program. However being able to offer him a higher salary at the time also would have been needed. He was making $800K when he left I believe. Louisiana is somehow paying Napier $2M now. As for coming back. I think NB would have success again with the talent we do have. Remember he inherited a BAD team from the last few years of LB's tenure.

Money helps but it doesn't gurantee you a coach. University of Florida has spent millions on head coaches since Thugan Myer left and they have squat to show for it. Meanwhile NDSU, JMU and Sam Houston keep winning championships paying $300k-$475k. There is a coach we can hire for $800k to $1 million

Anyone mention Jeff Traylor at UTSA? He is building quite a program there. According to my search, he makes 800k. I think he is gettable.
***NEVERMIND**** "With a nationally ranked football program in the midst of a historic season, The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and head football coach Jeff Traylor have signed a contract extension through 2031 valued at $28 million. Traylor's annual salary will average $2.8 million, in addition to potential bonuses, and the university will increase the salary pool for assistant coaches and support staff."

800k to 1m in Troy is like making 2m to 3m in other cities. I agree that's what it will take. The allure of running your own program in a rich recruiting area is worth about 500k and knowing if you do a good job you'll get a p5 job and will get that 3m to 5m job.

I have said that multiple times on this board. Nail on head. A lot of good coaches would crawl over a bed of glass and hot coals to be the HC coach at Troy. They know they can win here, medium to good support and sets them up for the big generational contract in the Power 5. The money is not the problem.

Hope it works out for them/him.
