Horse racing. Car racing. Cycling. Sailing....on the friggin WATER! Running. For YEARS they've known the value of a perpendicular photo-finish camera angle. The MOST IMPORTANT LINE in football is the goal line. And TROY doesn't have a perpendicular camera angle to the goal line.
Is there something I don't know? Does the replay booth have an angle that the TV crew doesn't? It cannot be money and if it is, we need to spend less elsewhere and spend some on two flippin' cameras. You HAVE to have a way to validate/invalidate this call and it is beyond reason why we don't to me. Anyone with some inside info? Or an inside line to speak up and say "Can we pass a collection plate and rectify this?" Geez

Couldn’t agree more, but I will say… you could have given that crew all the evidence in the world and the call would have stayed the same.

It took a L. O. N. G time to review because everyone looking at it says it has to be a touchdown. BUT BUT BUT we don’t have the definitive angle down the line. So we can’t say what we all can assume from all the other angles. This has come up many times in the Belt….So as you guys elude why the heck is this that we don’t have a camera at this angle.?

The teams are what have made the SunBelt good and considered the best G5. It has nothing to do with the conference officials. Seriously. They’ve made terrible calls many times before so I’m not surprised we go without something we should have.

Couldn’t agree more, but I will say… you could have given that crew all the evidence in the world and the call would have stayed the same. THIS is SO CORRECT! From my seat I witnessed a first for me. AFTER the white hat had received "the word" from the replay official, it appeared that he told the Line Judge (who had made TWO bad, almost back-to-back calls) the results PRIOR to making an announcement, THEN they carried on an extended conversation and then it appeared that the Line Judge spoke with the replay official (THAT is a first that I have witnessed). It would be interesting to determine how long that review actually took, it seemed ridiculous! I totally support the need for pylon cameras!! They offer neat views of the game, assist with controversial calls, and they are relatively inexpensive (per Google).

Well, this should be an absolute, positively NO BRAINER for the athletic dept. to see about getting. However, I have the sneaky feeling that I'm more upset about it than almost anyone. I've only seen one other person talk about it and that was in the game thread. I wanted a dang reporter to ask coach in the post-game. If one of you with ties to the inside scoop will ask in passing, I'd really love to know the reason why. I work with A/V tech. Integration isn't that difficult and a camera for this doesn't have to be that expensive. Heck get a guy with a dang cell phone who can upload the vid to the booth. They'd have saved time having and actual USABLE view of the play than all the time they took with what they had instead.

Believe it is a conference issue. Like not having replays of reviewed calls for conference games.

Believe it is a conference issue. Like not having replays of reviewed calls for conference games. Do you mean not having a goal line camera angle? If so, that just makes no sense. Like not having a camera on the finish line at the Kentucky Derby. Asinine! And I still haven't heard a single mention of it in a press conference or from a reporter or nobody except for right here on this thread and the one mention of it in the game day thread. No mention at all of the fact that a TOUCHDOWN that could've/should've been but wasn't. It's like nobody cares! That play wasn't a game-changer likely but what if the score had been different? What if that would have happened in any other quarter? I can't see the sense of it. Why review plays to get the correct call but NOT have camera angles which allow you to call it correctly??? SMH

Conference issue meaning all members have to have it or none. Not all FBS schools have goal line cameras. I think it should be a requirement.

You don't just buy pylons with cameras built into them and hook 'em up. You have to lay a network of conduit and wiring underneath the field (because wireless simply won't do the job), install wire hub boxes somewhere on the field, buy the software for the camera system, buy the fiber-optic lines...
It's quite an investment.

Are you agreeing to oversee this project? You seem to have it handled, and you got until October 9 to get er done. Swing by the football offices, and pick up the corporate credit card. If they give you any guff, tell Fester these cameras will give him another opportunity to "see what happened."

I think UAB have some leftovers from a few years ago that we can get pretty cheap. Now some dufus placed them at the 98.5 yard line but they obviously were very accurate back then. They should be lying around somewhere with their new stadium build.

They had to put new batteries in those cams, hope they repositioned them for Greenie's sake.
