Anybody able to get into practice to see “eyes on” on how the QB battle is shaping up ? I hear what some people are telling me privately but always like to hear from the folks who have seen also.

Anybody able to get into practice to see “eyes on” on how the QB battle is shaping up ? I hear what some people are telling me privately but always like to hear from the folks who have seen also. The way the NCAA structures Spring practice right now it is really hard to make a conclusion...especially among the coaches. 15 total practices and only 4 can be in full pads. Throwing, blocking, tackling, receiving and even kicking is different in shorts and t-shirts as to full pads. They will be able to evaluate who's ahead some but until fall camp it's difficult. Even fall camp with the NCAA banning two a days (a rule I 100% support also) it makes the evaluation process speed up. Looking for improvement in both qb play and OL play (was not remotely a fan of the prior OL coach. I was a big fan of both Schlarman and Moore as they were teachers and the way OL play is today it is technique as much as physical). If we can overcome our overwhelming handicap at HC we have the talent and a much better assistant coach staff than prior two seasons to have a good year in 2021.

In (The HC we don’t speak of)'s interview from Saturday's scrimmage, he said he was impressed with Mizzou transfer Taylor Powell. (The HC we don’t speak of) said "Taylor handled himself extremely well running a new offense and I was really pleased with what I saw from him."
Other things I've heard:
* Powell tends to leave the pocket too early sometimes. He's a more athletic QB, similar to Kaleb Barker. So it sounds like he's doing the same thing Barker did in his junior season, where he liked to run around instead of waiting a second or two and letting the WR routes progress. * Powell is very effective at running the run/pass option because of his athleticism. * Watson is making better decisions, forcing the ball less.

I understand best player needs to play but I sometimes don't like this grad transfer stuff. They haven't been here paying their dues and you get one season out of them and then it's back to the drawing board. It is really nice when you can develop a Freshman-Soph and get 3-4 seasons out of them but you have to win..that's the name of the game.

But we desperately need a QB that can come through in clutch moments and win for us, and we didn't have that last season. I just want a QB that can win games for us right now. Fortunately, if Taylor Powell winds up being the starter, he'll have two years to play.

ONLY Saturday afternoons 2pm kick. Freshman didn't play Varsity ball, players (and coaches) loyal to their programs. Season Tickets were $100.... 3 hour drive home post-game and listening to AM radio football scores from around the country ..... ah, for the good old days.

Now days they have this thing called ESPN + that while not perfect allows us to watch a great deal of football around the country. But I hear their are locales that actually don’t have the string or tin can to allow folks there to use this service. Just plain weird.
