Well Brian Blackmon has jumped on the Gus Bus. Can’t blame him.... any guesses on which buddy that needs a job gets scooped up?

In my limited knowledge I like him as a coach. In speaking with some former players and coaches he seems well liked and respected. I think there was a reason he filled in at head coach when (The HC we don’t speak of) was out.

Guess you will have to Trust in the Gus Bus. Legitimate question asked by a former Troy player concerning his son. It deserved better than a smart a$$ answer

Guess you will have to Trust in the Gus Bus. Legitimate question asked by a former Troy player. It deserved better than a smart a$$ answer My answer was legit. Asking this question on a public message board was the wrong approach. This needs to be offline for everyone involved. I know that is hard for you to grasp. Sure you can provide a answer where you regurgitate your three years of playing experience into the answer, over and over and over again.

Thank you everyone for your responses. My son has met him and likes him so far.
It was interesting to me to read that he graduated from Troy State and actually arrived the year after I left. Does anyone know if he played or was around the football team?
I haven’t been on here in a few years, but it’s good to see that things haven’t changed much. Troystet, thanks for having my back and saintflorian, I didn’t take any ill will from your comment but I haven’t been on the board in a while and I don’t have relationships with posters on here where I could have asked the question in private. No big deal, coaches come and coaches go. This will be my son’s 3rd head coach and 3rd special teams coach in 4 years- and yes, he’s on the Gus bus now.
Thanks again for everyone’s input.

Best of luck to your son! I sure wish that Troy would play UCF on a home and home! I used to attend that rivalry in the 90s! 1 of the best games I’ve ever been to was when UCF was beating Troy 17-0 at half and we came back to win!

As a former TROY player & Blackmon’s fraternity brother, he’s a high quality guy. He’s been successful everywhere he’s been. I think your son has a good one - both man and coach. Ironically, my first start was at UCF in the “Citrus Bowl”; they beat us in a close one. But we beat them in the I-AA playoffs my senior season. Hard to say good luck to their program, but will to you and your son ... JK. Good luck. Hope your son’s experience at UCF is as awesome as mine at TROY.

I would love to see my son in the same stadium that I played on.

I would love us to play UCF again but the chances of a home and home are slim. UCF has big boy attitude now and doubt they will go for it but who knows. I would take a game at UCF. we would have a huge Troy turnout
