Troy is opening up their season tomorrow at 1pm CT against Middle Georgia State (NAIA). The game will be televised on ESPN+.
I'm intrigued to see what Troy's lineup looks like. This is such a revamped team, that it makes it hard to predict who the starters could be.
Middle Georgia State is coming into this game undefeated, with a 3-0 record. They're shooting 45% as a team this season, which is pretty decent. They're averaging 40 rebounds per game, which is also pretty decent. They seem to struggle some at shooting the 3-pointer, only hit 34% of those. Free throws is really their Achilles heal, as they are only making 61% of their FT's... that's pretty bad.
I think Troy is going to give them a lot of trouble in the paint, simply because it seems MGSU is so under-sized. They have a 6'7" and 6'8" Forward on their team, but neither of them seem to be getting much playing time. The Forwards that they have been playing thus far this season have been 6'6" and 6'5". Compare that to Troy, who has Forwards that are 6'10" (Rory Pantophlet), 6'9" (Zay Williams), and 6'8" (Lydell Geffrard).
Even MGSU's primary shooters are going to be undersized compared to Troy... MGSU's highest point scorers are 6'2", 5'10", 6'0", and 6'4".
Troy's shooting guard lineup will likely see a mix of Jakevan Leftridge (6'7"), Keiffer Punter (6'5"), Nick Stampley (6'6"), Desmond Williams (6'1"), Duke Miles (6'2"), and Kam Woods (6'1").
It's going to be a good initial test for our new freshmen players to go up against a 3-0 NAIA school. I'm curious to see how well put-together the team looks compared to last years first game.

Probably see more of a look in a scrimmage than a NAIA team but it's a game

Probably see more of a look in a scrimmage than a NAIA team but it's a game Most likely. I don't foresee this game being close for multiple reasons. Either way, I'm glad we are starting out with a decently good NAIA opponent... it gives good game experience to the newcomers, and Cross can go ahead and fix any issues that show up on film.

They've already played three games? Do they even have Wunanivirus concerns in Middle Ga?? cornhole subscribed to ESPN+ twice already, swear it off for foreseeable future. You see the trouble is Georgia is becoming a different kind of state and ESPN signal is having trouble knowing if it is in the right place. Plus the rabbit ears just don’t work well anymore. Now if you have the same trouble in Alabama....well then you ticked off ESPN somehow.

]Troy's shooting guard lineup will likely see a mix of Jakevan Leftridge (6'7"), Keiffer Punter (6'5"), Nick Stampley (6'6"), Desmond Williams (6'1"), Duke Miles (6'2"), and Kam Woods (6'1"). [/div][/quote] Nick Stampley isn’t a guard, he’ll actually be playing the center in Cross’ offense/defense. Rotation will likely look at lot like this on Friday with everyone available 1: Duke Miles/Kam Woods 2: Des Williams/Kieffer Punter/Antwan Burnett 3: Khalyl Waters/Jakevan Leftridge/Miles Mendes 4: Zay Williams/Christian Turner 5: Nick Stampley/Rory Pantophlet/Z. Williams
