Ho no apologist for anything. He big critic of just about everything including himself - especially himself. So whoever clown that lumped me in as (The HC we don’t speak of) apologist can go pound sand.
Ho just figure out long before most on clown message board that worrying about the future to the point of it ruining TODAY is not good philosophy. But Ho not play that game anymore.
One time Ho rush back to catch game in Wisconsin...Ho rush to Bangalore India Airport, so he can make earlier connecting flight in Dubai so he could land that Saturday morning in Chicago - instead of Sunday morning, drive to Madison barely in time for kickoff, watch a lackluster performance against Wisconsin, then drive back to Chicago and catch last connecting flight back home at 10:30pm. The whole flight home Ho thought to himself - why did I just do that? Ho missed spending more time enjoying friends in Bangalore, more time in Dubai - which is amazing or even more time with Mrs. Ho who actually thought Ho had rushed home to see her (Ho never confessed to Mrs. Ho why he home a day early). That game change Ho.
Ho just work hard today so whatever come tomorrow he can deal with it. You miserable today, Ho guarantee you miserable tomorrow. The next time Ho was in Bangalore he explored city more with those friends and every time Ho get chance he hang in Dubai - not even if Mrs. Ho bust his chops for doing so without her.
Same thing with a program despite the optics not being very good. Ho main concern is the level of disinterest from the general population which has always been a mile wide but an inch deep even during good times. It's easy to blow off a Troy season (especially this season) because not a lot is really invested into it - from the fans, not administration. Season tickets can be bought for $60. I doubt Troy gear is flying off the shelves this Christmas season. Travel to away games - last year dropped off considerably. Apathy is awfully low right now and that effects optics and Dear Leader is all about optics.
The honorable thing to do would be finish the season out and THEN make decision. Although there are a few more dynamics involved - like recruiting, etc...But even if nothing is done at the top, we should expect changes to the staff, a pretty marginal recruiting haul this December, tons of Juco and the Transfer Portal might be packed. And just an FYI: Corona-19 hasn't really effected Coastal this season has it?
I'm afraid Dear Leader tried to get lucky and find another LB, somebody that might stay around longer than a decade. That apparently isn't happening, but if a change were to happen, we are in a pretty good - no, we are in very good position to bounce back pretty quickly. Great facilities. The stadium needs to be upgraded though or at least brought into the 21st century and the campus/location is very appealing. A lot to desire - unlike a handful of Sunbelt/other programs.

Coastal has winning to take their minds off things. The general malaise and apathy is enhanced by Covid. Covid does not cause it. The impacts are felt by everyone one way or another. Coastal has a good thing going that helps alleviate it not enhance its effects. But apathy is a good way of putting it. Winning helps the soul but so does faith. I am not talking about football at all in that last statement. So if you have both great if you have neither stuff is going to get to you.

It was a bad day in Troy yesterday (from a game outcome standpoint) and it still beat a good day at work.

Coastal is having a great year, so did Western Michigan some years ago. They might lose their HC soon and then its back to mediocrity.

What on God's name made them think a coach that has had 7 jobs in 8 years was going to hang around a decade?

Actually while I don't agree with some of your points. THIS ONE HITS THE MARK. It is almost as if whomever did the hire has NEVER interviewed someone for a position prior to this time. If when interviewing a person says. "Why yes I have had 7 jobs in 8 years...………….whatever,...……….whatever...………..whatever...…………..whatever...……………." Thank You for coming in Mr. Jones we will be in touch...………………."If you are the last dude" . Now I know coaching is different but you are selecting the head dude...…………………………...if there is an incredible reason for each move...………………...SURE consider them...………... However, after about 4 good reasons...………."We will be in touch" . . Now I stand corrected if every time he was somewhere there was a coaching change and its the way the cookie crumbles...………………………...BUT SEVEN TIMES!!!!

I think the reason that the multiple jobs was overlooked is that (The HC we don’t speak of) is a Blakeney legacy. How many people have Gump hired because they met the bear once.

Maybe I'm in the minority here but if we find another LB we hired the wrong guy. My point is, we are not / will never be in the position of the P5 schools who print their own money. If we hire guys who are winning, they will be hired away, we may keep a guy who is winning for 3-5 years but in reality, that should almost be our goal. If we lose coaches every 3-5, we are probably doing well.

It goes back to intangibles...look at traits that NB brought and the culture he established and look for those intangibles and character in your hire...not just what SEC school they were out or coached with LB.

I understand your reference but serving one year as a Position Coach for HCLB was not even an appearance of legacy IMO. Dude didn't even unpack his bag. I wonder what HCLB thought about the hire?? Do you think the "Search Committee" even asked of him?

But think much, much more likely that 3-5 is a sign of the right dude.
