Would Troy have hired this guy? NOPE He wasn't a coordinator 06 GA 07-09 D1 WR 10-11 D1 WR 12 NFL WR 13 hired by FBS to be HC Coaches Name is PJ Fleck Say what you want about the MAC but it earned it's nickname "The Cradle Of Coaches" Just a few- Don James, Urban Myer, Brian Kelly, PJ Fleck, Nick Saban, Ara Parsighan, Gary Pinkel, Woody Hayes, Paul Brown, Butch Jones, Sid Gillman, Bo Schembeckler Huh !? Trying to see how you are trying to connect one dot to another. But using your PJ Fleck example, Fleck had a way worst resume than CL. Yet you say that was a good hire, after the fact. Hmmm. But you totally missed my point about the coaching resume I posted. But you kinda proved by posting PJ Flecks resume. That resume was Billy Napier when ULL hired him. Keep thinking about, I await your ah-ha moment. Where in PJ Flecks resume was the word Coordinator was my point. Winner is a winner and being a Coordinator doesn't make you one...or a HC

Intangibles Matter. Connect these dots. CL..............................................loser. JS.......................................WINNER! CL is hovering around the .500 mark. Correct, not a winner. But JS, what has he won as a Head Coach or even a coordinator? Ok, maybe he won in some sort of tackling metric as a Linebacker Coach. Guess if you were the Western Michigan AD at the time you would have passed on Fleck because he wasn't a coordinator. Another three coaches Saint would have passed on who were never coordinators...Woody Hayes, Ara Parsighan and Urban Meyer

We over-exagerate the past, Over-estimate the future, And totally neglect today. You massage board clowns need to live in present, not fantisize about what if and might have been. TMTDM is 4-3. Need two wins to play Ohio on Christmas Day in Montgomery. Ho for one think that a win considering everything else. We will have 6 wins (all against teams with a losing record)

You have been ranting ad nauseam about CL resume and how bad it is. Then you start posting about coaches that got hired with just as bad resumes or worst and how that was a good decision. Stick to one side of an argument Cowboy. Your going down so many wormholes it’s hard to keep up. Please note my previous post about excess chemical use. In the end, you can’t just look at the resume of a coach to know if he will be successful. BUT it is one of many parts of the equation, an important one, alas. Together we have proved this. I have maintained CL and JS shouldn’t have been in the final two. For different reasons. But, regardless of their resumes both were not ready. IMO. But they choose CL, I will support him and the program as long as he maintains the key components. When they are gone, changes need to occur Because I love Troy. Like Ho said, you got to stop living in the past. JS was not hired. LB is gone. Coach Maddox is way gone. Let it go and focus. It will be ok.

There are other intangibles to being a great HC and nowhere does it say being a coordinator is one. My HS coach is in the FL HS HOF. HC for 32 years, never had a losing season, took over my HS in 1977 after they went 0-10 in 1976. 1977 8-2 1978 13-0 state champs, 1979 14-0 State Champs. His prior coaching experience? Two years as db coach at a 1A school. He instilled discipline and was on top of every detail in preparing his teams. The one thing I still operate on is Coach Kennedy time. If he said 4 pm if you were there at 3:50 you were late

A lot of wasted energy on this thread.Sim Byrd passed away yesterday...let that set in. You think he cares today? Hopefully we play tomorrow and give it our best effort. Maybe come away with the win and keep the Palladium for the next 50yrs because I doubt Central Tennennesssee ever plays us again.
And remember the old Buddhist saying: "You can not have the Lotus without the mud".
