May I stick my nose in your discussion here? When CNB left, the defense was loaded, Tron was gonna leave regardless. Tyler Murray, Marcus Jones and Terence Dunlap were still here. Murray and Jones left, Dunlap was academically ineligible. Those are three studs that were here when CNB left, so yes race horses were left here. Injuries are a mix of bad luck and strength and conditioning philosophies. Exactly, the 2019 defensive situation (The HC we don’t speak of) inherited was NOT a race horse. Does not excuse the issues on odd play calling and coaching schemes but the pieces were not in place for the side of the ball to succeed at a high level, to no fault of (The HC we don’t speak of). Heâs the head man. All triumphs and failures lay at his feet.

In these days and times of transfer rules and kids attitude of moving programs at a drop of a hat, itâs not the incoming coaches fault for kids leaving now a days. It happens at literally every school now. Heck kids transfer yearly out of every program in the country that are winning and itâs the same coach. How can you blame (The HC we don’t speak of) on a kid that did not play due to academic reasons that were during CNBâs watch. That has zero validity. Even given your reasoning, thatâs would leave only 2 of your studs. What about the other positions ? 2 does not make a defense whole. In addition Our #1 stud on defense stayed. Iâve sat on this Fan Day 2019. I didnât sit on it to âspring itâ at an optimum time, I just didnât see any benefit in mentioning it. However, since the topic is now being discussed openly, Iâll chime in. My wife and I were standing in line at Fan Day and Terrance Dunlapâs Mom was in front of us. I donât know her and would have no idea who she was had she not told the lady she was talking to she was Terranceâs Mom. She was complaining about what was then the ânewâ staff. Her complaint? That they hadnât kept Terrance eligible, they hadnât stayed on him about studying. Several points: 1) The staff SHOULDNâT HAVE to do that 2) If he went from eligible to not in one semester, he was walking a tight rope anyway 3) According to the things she said, the staff under CNB âkeptâ Terrance eligible by riding him hard. Again, these are the thoughts of a Mom, but if sheâs right, I think it unfair to blame CNB for her sonâs ineligibility and I think itâs a stretch to blame an oncoming staff that had 3 months with the young man prior to that academic issue occurring. There must be personal accountability, and by all visible measures it appears there was. The young man is again back on the field and Iâm happy for him and us. Certain people were assigned to certain players to ensure they were in class, study hall, and making the effort required to stay eligible. Ultimately the player is 100% responsible for their education and taking advantage of all assistance made available to them. Neal Brown went above and beyond because heâs a mentor to young men and at the end of the day his career hinges on the decision making of 18-23 year old young men. His whole ATD went far beyond the white lines of a football field.

If don't remind a 13 year old to feed the dog the dog will die? Bruh. Well not exactly as the 2 year old thinks it is super funny to toss half his dinner on the floor for the beagle.

Goes back to teaching accountability and discipline. Is it "technically" the coaches duty? NO but in this day and age any program worth it's salt has to stay on top of their players and their studies. Some of these kids are boderline even being capable of doing college level courses and are there because they play a sport. If you want to sign a player you know is going to struggle academically then "yes" it is your job as coaches and staff to make sure that player is doing what is required of them. Even back in the lowly D2 days our coaches knew if we were attending classes, all freshman (regardless of grades or test scores) had mandatory study hall and if you weren't meeting grades then you were getting up at 5 AM and doing a little light jogging for the coaches.

It is really interesting what lengths some schools go to: when Jamous Winston (he had lots of issues). He had an assigned person at the end 24 hours a day and not allowed at establishments past 8:00 PM . After winning National Championship he delayed the victory parade in Tallahassee because he took an extra couple of weeks off and lo and behold finally showed up. Point is some are less disciplined and some (Winston) no discipline at all and different coaches go to different lengths to corral players or “guide” them. I don’t like what coaches have to do to get them to class.

And FSU is still paying the price for " The Crab Leg Years " so did Nebraska after Lawrence Phillips and UF still hasn't recovered from the penitentiary years of Urban Meyer ( needs to be a 30 on 30 Special on the 2008 Gators. A murderer thug TE, a racist WR,multiple arrests and cover ups and this group of convicts and thugs were led by a preacher)

I would like to see our players look more professional by dressing better during the Trojan Walk and when traveling ! I was happy to see our players at the John Lewis Funeral but disappointed to see them in shorts! Discipline starts from the top down and (The HC we don’t speak of) could make an easy change to change the mindset of our players

At this point, I guess (The HC we don’t speak of) needs to ensure all the players wipe their butts fully after going # 2. The Athletic Department has educational advisers that assist all student athletes. If this cat didnât go to class, its on him. If you have to remind a 20 year to go to class or study, well...... Itâs sad so many in our society have adapted âitâs not my fault !â âitâs this person fault !â âtake care of meâ attitude, now itâs even on the Troy message board. Ok, yâall hate (or strongly dislike) (The HC we don’t speak of) for whatever reason and want him to fail. I wouldnât be surprised if (The HC we don’t speak of) was blamed for creating the Coronavirus on this board at some point. I am indifficult on (The HC we don’t speak of) and any coach. As long as the team is together as one, itâs making effort and the coach wins (relative to situation) I will support this part of the Trojan program, the coaching staff. You know what? Hell yeah! I'm going to blame (The HC we don’t speak of) for coronavirus! Yep, he did it alright! Why not blame him, he's got a whole squad of apologists for everything else!

I know times are different but when I played shirts and ties required on road trips. I loved it when NB had them in Polos, khakis and blue blazer. Act like class and you play like class. Now we are back to the end of LB, dress like you fell out of bed and threw on your shirt and shorts

Head coach Jon Sumrall OC Cornelius Williams QB coach Levi Brown DC Vic Koening I doubt VK would want to be DC under such a young defensive-minded HC (it would be something different if it was an offensive-minded HC). Also, not sure if C.Williams is an offensive-mind and playcaller(?) It feels like it would be a waste of resources ($) investing so heavily in DEF expertise and not investing in a real (and somewhat experienced) offensive playcaller at the same time.

Real talk. How much is (The HC we don’t speak of)âs buyout and how many years was his contract for?

I normally keep my comments to myself. But, as a proud alumni and Troy supporter, I am going to share my thoughts on this topic. We have four very talented QBâs. He is the QB coach and play caller and that is our obvious weakest link. Itâs sad that we are dependent on the defense to score with the talent of our receivers and QBâs. I understand that only one QB has proven college experience and the others will gain that with time. With all the fire him comments, I would hope that (The HC we don’t speak of) will make some changes that are desperately needed resulting in a successful season. Best of luck! Go Trojans!!

My thoughts: Where is the run game? And specifically Charlie Strong? Levi won’t be coming back. His fiancé needs a much bigger market for her career as she’s already covering professional sports. Regarding how the team dresses - I work in the hospitality industry and book football teams. Some arrive in matching sweat suits/casual attire and some in suits. Neither is an indication of performance on the field. And this year especially teams are geared for safety and are traveling with less luggage. I personally like suits and ties during Trojan Walk and hope to see that next year.

Then you are going to need some more scratch to hire a new coach. Firing early leads to increased salary and longer contracts. Auburn pays Gus 7 mil a year because they have a rep of firing early.

Were in this for the long haul guys and gals. The AD is sleeping in the bed they made. I am sure they blame the virus but its not just the virus affecting their pocketbook. The Trojan Warrior program regressed also. It went from a fine experience to a monthly email basically stating "Hey send us some money this year". When you have a rock star Director of Development - Trojan Warrior Fund and you promote him it should be ensured that that fine experience continues. We have regressed across the board, not just with the football staff.

The Behind The Wall videos and coaches miced up under the following staff were fantastic. Now every Troy Football video looks like a stupid low budget Rap video.

I was honest and said that I wasn't comfortable donating when times are so uncertain. Now, the contract I support has changed hands. I have received a layoff notice from my company while awaiting an offer letter from my new company. 2020 is just not the year at least for me to be charitable. Now 2021.... I might pursue a second Master's degree through Troy Online.
