God NO. We need a head coach, not someone’s buddy. We don’t need to experiment with a Linebacker Coach.

Everyone needs to chill for a few.
CCL might not be the fit, dont 100% know YET. This is/has been a crazy year. We are 3-1, If we finish well and go bowling 2021 might be set up for a championship run.
I say let the season play out. If it goes sideways we will know.

Brent Jones needs to start making a list. CCL might not be the fit. But we should fear BJ choosing a coach. I trust Brent more than I do Hawkins and Bookout.

The most glaring thing that needs to be fixed is our pass defense. The penalties can be fixed overnight. The sloppy play can be fixed in a week. The self (and team) discipline can be fixed whenever they decide to fix it. BUT the pass defense, that's still a big concern. In 2019 and this year, any team with a good quarterback and a couple of good receivers can pick our secondary apart. BYU and EKU had excellent QBs and receivers and we couldn't hang with them. Those are the guys that make the big plays and they made them against us. The rest of the schedule will try to do the same. Silver lining. Several times we were close on defense and just did not make play. Many times in past we were not within zip code of receivers. I agree. The pass defense didn't seem as bad as some of you say. Last year, we were letting WR's get wide open all over the place. In this EKU game, we contested quite a few passes. We had 6 passes deflected. There were 3 passes that SHOULD'VE been interceptions because we had multiple guys around the ball. For whatever reason though, they all had butter fingers last night and weren't catching them. I think if we catch those, like we did against MT and Texas State, the look of the EKU game changes dramatically.

We have played a absolute patsy schedule with the exception of BYU who destroyed us. We play GA ST next week who has been tested and Coastal who has played a very tough schedule. App and Georgia Southern also loom. Middle Tennessee will be a different team also. Anything can happen but I guess we go 6-6 or 5-7 and go to some Bowl Game and we will consider it a success. Truly sad how we went from three consecutive 10 win seasons to hoping we go 6-6

This team or staff cannot control the teams on the schedule, they control whether they win them or not. They are 3 wins, one loss. COVID has screwed up a lot this season, but this team is still together as a unit and playing hard. Everyone is giving the team a whole lot of crap about celebrating a game winning FG with 0:00 against EKU, shows they care and are âinâ for their teammates. Doesnât mean they canât go back hard this week at practice and correct and improve hard. (The HC we don’t speak of) has potential but like all coaches has to win and build a team. Weâll see if that happens. (The HC we don’t speak of) biggest issue, IMO is he made some assistant coach hires that just not have worked out. He is having growing pains as a head coach taking over a previously successful and rebuilt program. I hope he wins, that means our Trojans are winning. If he fails we replace him, praying AD BJ doesnât go too far down a rabbit hole.

Since schedules don't matter, we should be ranked by now shouldn't we? I mean, after all, our only loss was to a BYU team that is (allegedly) playoff caliber. I wonder what's holding us back. It couldn't possibly be the schedule, could it?

Again, the coaches donât control the teams or infact the league Troy plays in. All they can do is play the games that are scheduled for them. Your questions are amateurish. I assume you know Troy plays in the Sunbelt and is not in a Power 5 conference. If we were 4-0 we would be ranked #24 or 25.

Agree that is a huge issue for the current program. He picked his buddies.

Your questions are amateurish. "A win is a win" isn't? BTW, I guess Troy was the only team that had to deal with COVID this year too. Oh wait, no, every team in the country had to deal with it. (The HC we don’t speak of) and staff bragged about how well they dealt with it and how no one got sick, but they're still not good enough to beat a decent team, they got blasted by BYU, and struggled all day against a 1-3 I-AA team. When all this COVID crap got started the first thing I thought was, "Damn, (The HC we don’t speak of)'s got his golden ticket this year."

As of 10/19/20, the Troy Trojans are 3-1 and the team is together. I will gladly join you in the calls for change if for example: at a later date we are 4-8, the team is lost and undisciplined. Maybe 6-6 is not good enough too, we will see. Until then, mix up a cocktail and enjoy. Life is too short to be anger and negative.

First thing: To win and stay competitive you must develop leadership with discipline so the letter âIâ is not in team. (The HC we don’t speak of) has not been able to get that part of the program off the ground from day one. Second thing: This so called DC is so inconsistent as a coach that Ray Charles can see that. (The HC we don’t speak of) I said it before and I will say it again, if your ability not to develop players doesnât get you gone, the DC will. Third and last thing: How did we go from Rebuilding the Wall , Developing Leadership, ability to play with anyone in the country, to this after HCNB moved on. Oâ I know someone passed up what could have been HCJS How? They made the wrong hire. It was a glaring mistake from the start. The name was household in the south and not for good reasons. Yes and suitcase (The HC we don’t speak of) fully thought he could just come in, win big for one year and move on. Now that didn't work and he hasn't been past one season at his 7 prior jobs he doesn't know what the answer is

That said, 7-5 is my low bar. 3 or more conference losses would be a no go for me. The way we played Saturday, I am hard pressed to find a win in any of GSU, ARKST, CCU, or APP.

3-1 on the year is better than being poked in the eye with a sharp stick. Are we better than last year, I say yes. We won a game saturday that I think last years team would have found a way to lose. Could that be a product of a new strength coach building a new attitude, I think that's some of it. Could it be an inexperienced staff last year that has a season under their belt and learned from past mistakes, yep. Could it be the studs on the field, yes, could it be all of the above, sure. So now the real test begin. We have a stretch of SBC games coming that will absolutely make or break the season. It begins with a winnable game at home vs. Georgia State. Since this has become the complaint department, I have 3 glaring issues that should have been handled better in my opinion. 1. Our DB picks off a pass in the endzone, flips the ball to the WR for a 15 yard penalty. Players are 18-22, we all made bad decisions at that age. It's up to a coach to correct it. I watched him walk off the field with his team and go sit on the bench with no correction from a head coach, coordinator or position coach. I did see Smooth go over to him and discuss it with him. Smooth is not his coach though. 2. After a Troy fumble, an O-lineman pushed one of their players down in the face of an official. 15 yards again, watched him walk to the sideline where he was not greeted by a head coach, coordinator or position coach either. I know every staff/individual is different, but I've been on the field and heard things told to players from our previous staff when they were in error. Our prev. staff had a solid record so I think it's okay for me to look back and them and find guidance. Hate all you want! 3. 4th quarter, we had 9 men on the field for a punt return, the 10th guy ran on late, the team on the field was calling for the 11th guy who never made it out there. I saw one coach give effort to find the missing man, nobody else seemed to give a rip. If that's the case, let's just play with 10 everytime if we are trying to keep people healthy. Not saying it was timeout worthy, but show some effort man.
These are just 3 things that this nitpicky middle aged guy saw from the stands. If I'm wrong, I will gladly accept responsibility and apologize. I'm not calling for jobs, that does nothing positive for us at this point.
Hemi Man hit the nail on the head with trusting Brent. Well said sir.

I'm old school also and discipline still wins games and championships
