ACC has made the decision to play conference only games other than one home non conference game.
There goes the home game vs. NC State.
With this move, it cancels the WVU vs. FSU opener in Atlanta. Yo Neal, want to write us a check? Our opening weekend is available too.

If we have to play a P5 away game in place of NC State, I'm okay with that.
I'm still wondering what's going to happen with the Arkansas-Pine Bluff game opening.

Hate to say it, but all the chips, 12 Fall games worth, will fall. i think the next move Universities will make is to slim down athletic budgets, hence personnel. Division II and III may eliminate athletic budgets altogether. Just thinking out of the box here tonight. Say it ain't so.

You think NC State is actually scared of Troy? This should be the one game they're looking forward to!

You think NC State is actually scared of Troy? This should be the one game they're looking forward to! They are not actually a dominant P5 program and while I don’t think they would be scared they have little to gain about a road game against what more than likely would have been a 2-0 fired up team in our stadium. While not scared they certainly are not disappointed that they get to skip that game even while kind of looking forward to it as opposed to others they were to Play.

Seems like the ACC decision is more about keeping Notre Dame happy. I get it, but it stinks. Expect SEC to follow suit, so we will lose the Tennessee game too. SBC schedule, here we come!

The SEC is moving closer to an agreement on a conference-only schedule of 10 games, multiple sources told Sports Illustrated. During a virtual meeting on Wednesday, a majority of athletic directors approved the idea of an SEC-only, 10-game schedule. However, the schedule must be ratified by league presidents. SEC presidents are expected to meet virtually Thursday to seriously discuss the matter. It is unclear if they will vote then or delay a decision until next week. The NCAA Board of Governors is scheduled to meet Tuesday in what could be a momentous event for the 2020–21 college athletic season. Officials there could postpone or cancel fall championships, eliminating year-ending championships for sports such as FCS football, volleyball and soccer, or moving those to the spring.

Wow, there goes our schedule!
Maybe we'll still keep UMass at least.
From what I can tell, here are the closest teams to Troy that will need to fill in their schedules because of the ACC and possibly SEC decisions:
MTSU UAB La Tech North Alabama

Based on what has already happened around the country regarding schedules AND based on what I am seeing here at work with the virus, I am not at all optimistic that we will see college football with fans in the seats this fall. Who knows, all it will take is for 1 P5 conference to pull the plug on the schedule for it to all fall apart. It’s 2 days from August and we still are seeing new daily highs for virus hospital admissions in the southeast. I so hope I’m wrong, but I’m not optimistic.

I'm surprised we haven't heard an announcement from Troy Athletics with some sort of an update since the NC State game pretty much won't be played at this point. I felt like there was a quick update from Troy when Arkansas-Pine Bluff had their season cancelled.

Play all 9 conference teams and keep the UMass game since they will be struggling to fill their schedule. I AGREE, gives us a game BEFORE South (plus we have made plans for UMass) AND La-La was supposed to play Missouri the same day we were playing Tennessee (easy fix). That will keep the competition intensity UP going into the Happy Appy game.

According to Twitter, Sun Belt AD's weren't very surprised by the SEC's decision.
ULM's athletic director said that the Sun Belt is still committed to playing a 12-game schedule.

I am super impressed with your guys true belief that Trojan football will actually be played this fall. Regardless of the COVID thing, the amount of extra money that would be lost will kill it.

We and the Cajuns on Nov 21 but where? Option One, The only fair thing to do, coin flip! Option Two, neutral site between the two campuses. Either Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium (home of Jackson State) plenty of social distancing space (over 60,000 seats) OR Robinson-Hale Stadium (home of Mississippi College (about 8,000 seats, should work with two road teams). BOTH of those programs would welcome a rental fee this season and would not be using on that date.

BOTH of those programs would welcome a rental fee this season and would not be using on that date. That won't be happening, for a lot of different reasons. One reason being that the cost to use a neutral stadium for a game is not cheap, and you've now got to spend money to bus your staff and players. Second reason is you're limiting the amount of gate revenue because fans will be less likely to travel for a game during this pandemic... and if you played in an 8,000-seat stadium, you're only going to be able to seat AT MOST 4,000 if you're trying to follow social distance guidelines. Plus many other reasons...
