Nobody is getting fired. I hope we can make it through this season and start fresh next year with a full deck. I just hope it doesn't turn into a Rowell situation where we keep giving a coach another year and then another year to turn it around with no signs of improvement. CL isn't getting fired. I can only remember one coach being actually fired at Troy in recent memory and that was Cunningham and we waited three years to long on that. Whether he keeps the DC or not we will see but my gut tells me he stays. If we finish up and have a winning season CL stays. If he has a good year in 2020 as Phil Roberson says "HE GONE" he has never stayed anywhere in his coaching career longer than two season. Troy will be no different

Guys, Iâm simply expressing how I feel on this board as everyone else does. Obviously, I KNOW (The HC we don’t speak of) isnât getting fired. Holy smokes. Letâs not take everything so literal. As I pointed out before though, on a SERIOUS NOTE - if season two comes around and not much progression is made some sort of change im sure will be made, whether its defensively, or as a whole...who knows.

At least we aren't Auburn. Their guy has a 7 year 49 million dollar deal. They are stuck on the Gus bus.

Lets not forget Neal Brown's first year, a 4-8 record with a lot of close games - including losses to South Al and Idaho. Yeah, yeah - I know the argument that we didn't have the talent then as we should now, but my goodness we've been gutted from transfer and injuries this year. The defense is crazy young right now but they will improve. Don't forget that over NB's tenure we lost to UAB, South Al (2x), LIBERTY, and let Boise hang 56 on us last year at home ---and only ONE conference championship. I think (The HC we don’t speak of) is going to turn this thing around and we are going to make a run down the stretch. Pass the kool-aide please!

CNB 1st year w/l record was 33% improvement over the prior year. The Portal thing changes the game forever, not a HC thing. Unless the NCAA changes it's mind, likely just add more rules to "Improve" the Portal. Not sure (The HC we don’t speak of) has the horses to turn it around year one. Take that any way you want. GO TROJANS!

Could the players that transferred have seen the writing on the wall with these coaches?

If we lose to South I canât wait to see how this ship turns with those still on the (The HC we don’t speak of) ship. I will say no more. Just going to sit back, smile and watch. When it all starts to go down hill, âhey, I told you so.â

Could the players that transferred have seen the writing on the wall with these coaches? Some who transferred had nothing to do with coaches or teammates.

And your punk A** better slow your cool. No need for that. What do I owe an apology for, for having an opinion like everyone else? Because I think (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) isnât a good fit for our program? Iâm a die hard TROY fan just as much as any of you, if not more. Dont believe me ask my wife what I love almost as much as her and she will be quick to tell you Troy. I support my school, I played for my school, I give back to my school and itâs athletic programs, and thereâs nothing I want more than to see Troy at the top of the list year after year. So watch who your talking to when your calling someone a punk A**. I wonât tolerate that.

I’m not a fan of firing anyone. I’m very unhappy how this season is falling apart, but firing anyone without actually giving them a legitimate chance is just wrong. I will still go watch my team play and cheer for them even when their field play can at times be confusing and frustrating. If I could survive the Bradshaw years, I can certainly survive this

1st season - "You can't fire (The HC we don’t speak of)! It's his first season and there's so many injuries!"
Fair enough.
2nd season (also losing) - "You can't fire (The HC we don’t speak of)! He has to get his system in place with the returning starters!"
3rd season (still losing) - "You can't fire (The HC we don’t speak of)! So many players graduated!"
4th season, losing - "You can't fire (The HC we don’t speak of)! How will it look if we fire people after only four seasons!"
5th season ad infinitum - "You can't fire (The HC we don’t speak of)! You're not a coach!"

You want to see the head coach fail just because you don't like him and his in-game decisions. Absolutely moronic. Let me correct you, because you have no idea what you are talking about. One, I never said anything about âwantingâ to see the coach fail, or ânot likingâ him. Bottom line is there are many questionable areas and red flags regarding (The HC we don’t speak of) an the coaching staff that many of us on this board have pointed out. I donât think I need to go back and rehash each one . Iâve been pointing out the obvious along with everyone else. Your some idiot if you honestly think I would want our head coach to fail. If he fails our team fails ya dope. I have nothing against him what so ever. In fact, I think heâs a great guy, however I donât feel he is head coach material. Hopefully he proves me wrong. Obviously, there is a lot of concern by many on this board and not just me or else this wouldnât be a hot topic like it has been the past few weeks.

Here is a NYTs article that talks specifically of how long you should allow a new coach. To sum it up, year 3 seems to be the magic number for success. It's a good read.

It wouldn't let me read it... but it shouldn't take a coach coming into a successful program at this level three years to see success. Honestly, at this point we shouldn't even expect to keep a coach that long if they're any good. That said, we're NOT going to lose to South. There was a semblance of a running game at the end of Missouri, though I think it was applied in a desperate attempt to run the clock rather than a real strategy to gain points. But (The HC we don’t speak of) isn't Fleetwood and he should be able to figure something out for conference play (balance, man!). The defense had some good flashes, and they'll do well enough even without effective coaching in this game.

They lost in overtime to Ga Southern who had three losses to LSU , 2 points to Minnesota and a very good ULL. They have played a good Nebraska team, a very good 5-0 Memphis team, a 4-1 ULL who lost to Miss St by 10 and a 4-1 UAB. We traditionally have struggled with them even with great teams (2017). The worst thing we can do is look at their record. They have one win, we have two. This game can define the rest of the season. After looking at their schedule I don't think they are as bad as we thought.

South is not going to be as easy as you think. I actually think it's going to be a figurative blood bath of questionable plays. 😅 But we are NOT going to lose to South. I actually haven't seen them play yet this year. I suppose it really all comes down to how good their defense is against the pass. Though I think we see some type of run game this outing, or at least an attempt. Just to mix things up and make short yardage into the endzone more manageable. But we will NOT lose to South. 😉
