He is going to be a grad transfer. Funny how all of you get excited when we sign one but can't understand when one of our players does it. If he earned his degree all the best and next Trojan up. My issue with this, he likely got an education, gratis.. and owes Troy a year. Same as Micah Grimes, Jonathan Massaquoi etc to name a few. Well, as a guy who was on football scholarship, I tell people, "I WORKED my way through school ... playing football!" Granted, now there are some time restrictions .. though not on working out/conditioning ... but it sure is work! Academic Scholarship is gratis ... not athletic (or band, etc.) I hate to lose him ... he was key player for us. I think missing him cost us the Liberty game ... Tron had a way of making big 3rd down plays to get us off the field ... we couldn't get off the field in that game. But, have no problem with a player taking advantage of opportunities that they think may be better ... like coaches do.

There are some impressive looking players still listed on the transfer portal ... many that would be available immediately! I hope we're going after them ... especially a seasoned LB or 3!

I totally agree with you on the football part and the work, especially when we played as there were no hour restrictions, no contact restrictions and scholarships were one year renewable. Still a lot of time and work today but they have four year scholarships which helps. Academic scholarships are not exactly gratis. I believe both our daughters attended Troy on the Millenium Scholarship which you had to have a 31 ACT and maintain a 3.3 GPA in college. Don't know how mine did it majoring in Biomedical Science lol. He did his part and he wants to explore opportunities elsewhere. Do kids have to work in Troy that graduate? No. He graduated on time and he is free to do this. All the best

Everybody seems to have assumed that this transfer is a one way street. Coach Brown has commented more than once that this player is hard to coach. He has been benched at LEAST once for not listening to the coaches. This behavior is disruptive to say the least.Alternatively, Coach (The HC we don’t speak of) may have given him the " It's my way or the highway" speech and Folsom chose plan B.As an aside, A.J. Smiley is a very good football player.I hope this works well for both Folsom and Troy.

Yet they continued to play him. If true then next man up but he graduates and is free to transfer. No issues ever with me for a coach laying down the discipline

Not at all doubting you...I'd just never heard any of that. Can you share where these statements were made? I missed them. Gracias.

I believe one was at a Trojan talk and another at a press conference. It was no secret.

It does not matter at this point. What happen or the reason he moved on, let’s let it go. One fact is true he will not be here in 2019 but the Trojans will be. Thanks for all you done Mr. Folsom and I wish you well.
