Good to know. I thought they would pick some at-large teams to round out the bracket. They usually do. I don't know why the bracket was so small this year. I don't quite understand why the amount of at-large teams fluctuates so much year to year, unless there are a lot of teams that decline bids to play in the NISC? For all I know Troy may have declined a bid. I know the women's basketball team declined a bid to the WBI Tournament after this past season, because Rigby said the team was so thin on depth... so who knows. Troy declined the bid.

If Troy declined the bid, then they are making bad decisions. This team is young and needs experience. They have a pitcher coming off of injury who was the ace in 2017 that needs innings to be effective again and regain her confidence. This would have been a perfect opportunity to get the young players some at bats. I saw on another thread that 3 or 4 teams that went to the NISC last year, made the NCAA this year. Liberty had 10 extra games last year in the NISC and the Coach specifically mentioned what that tourney did to help her team be in a championship situation. I can't believe we would decline. Please list the reasons.

Like any business, it boils down to ROI.
IF Troy declined to play, the "exposure" for the program was more than likely not worth the financial investment. You hear teams decline bids to the post-season basketball invitationals all the time.
This is not a big deal.
