So I've moaned and groaned every time I go in any of the local sports gear stores here in Panama City and even places in the Wiregrass. Tons of AL, AU, GA and many, MANY other schools have stuff but it's always a scavenger hunt for any Troy stuff. It's usually non-existent. Over Christmas I was getting my brother an Astros W.S. champs hat in Pro Image Sports, Pier Park; a surprisingly good sports gear store. I was talking to the owner - a super nice guy - about how hard it was to find Troy gear. He told me its because the school will not sanction many items to sell, preferring to keep it on campus and more local (he supposed). I know some of you in the past have posted about it. Is that true? I've always thought it was more supply/demand. He said he's sold a good bit of stuff because there are many fans in our area but that he couldn't get but just a few items to stock. I would think we would want our brand everywhere we could get it. Anyone got any info? I feel bad playfully chastising the owners of these places for never carrying any Troy stuff but ramming the other crap down my throat. This place did have a really cool mini-helmet I'm gonna pick up soon.

It appears efforts are being made to remedy that problem. Just this week, D***'s Sporting Goods and Eagle Eye Outfitters, both in Dothan, announced the addition of TROY stuff to their inventories and stated more items would be forthcoming. I know the licensing department of the athletic department made contact with businesses around the area in the fall for the purpose of expanding the availability of licensed TROY stuff. We'll see how it all works out.

That's good news! Any idea as to why it's 2018 and this is just now happening? Seems like a no-brainer to me but....maybe there's something I don't know. Just curious.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's the result of a new vision and new commitment by the athletic department. Just as we've seen improvement in marketing, ticket distribution, game day experience, use of social media, etc, we are seeing improvement in brand identity and promotion. As an old codger it hurts to say this, but with youth and young blood sometimes come fresh and new ideas that are an improvement. I'm guessing this is an example.

The next year when I stopped other than some ball caps they didn't have any Troy shirts at all. When I asked why they stopped carrying them they told me they didn't sell. I haven't been to Academy this past season but I know 2016 they didn't have any. Are they back to carrying them? Being in Cent FL I rely on eBay and Amazon for Troy merchandise
