The Sun Belt Conference is the absolute bottom of all division 1 conferences. Always has been, always will be. That is just the cold hard TRUTH !! It is filled with teams who are new to Div 1 or fbs and the traditional stagnant programs (Ull, Ulm). Troy football by far is above all teams in the sunbelt as to championships, winning records, bowls, attendance, support etc.... As long as Troy is a member of this conference, we will never be able to achieve the next step of growing our program! One example is our bowl tie in. New Orleans is our reward for conference champion. Our “reward” for our champion is to play a 6-6 conf USA team !!! Hmmm. Darn if you don't have a short memory. Troy was stagnant at the bottom of the heap just 4 years ago,

22 years ago I bought my first season tickets to TROY football. One of the most enjoyable things about these 22 years, as it relates to TROY, is watching, and being a small part of, the steady improvement and growth of TROY football, both on the the field and in the perception of the general public. There was a time I would go for months without seeing TROY attire or running into a fan. Now, it's a daily occurrence to see TROY auto tags, TROY caps and shirts, and hear folks talking TROY football. It's amazingly gratifying.
What does this have to do with Sunbelt Conference prestige? I get that the 'Belt isn't the most lucrative or respected conference out there, but while we're here, be it 5 or 500 more years, why don't we find a way to build up the conference rather than tear it down. I can promise you, if we are along for the ride as the Sunbelt improves and gains respect, it'll be fun. If, years ago, I'd constantly talked about how pitiful the school I attended was, how I wished I could go to games of bigger schools, and how I hated the product I was watching, I'd have been one miserable soul. Let's enjoy seeing, the conference grow and enjoy being a part, however small or large, of making that growth a reality. Wouldn't it be gratifying if, 15 years from now, schools are trying to move into the 'Belt, rather than out of it?

Perspective is a healthy thing.

I dont think anyone is trying to tear down the conference. I think its just hard fact being stated. I think everyone can agree that we all want our program to get to the next nevel ( if possible) !! My comments about our conference has seemed to bring about some heated emotions/discussions. I was born and raised in Troy, a graduate, and a former employee as well as most of my family. I am well aware of the growth of Trojan athletics. I will always support my Trojans through thick and thin. Again, i think we all want the best for Troy University !!

I agree we want what's best. I guess I can say if we had the chance to move, my opinion about whether we should would hinge on which conference was extending the invite. I think it's certainly possible that, if we keep getting stronger, we can pass C-USA and I think we are already equal to, if not ahead of, the MAC.

Sun Belt doesn't hurt us that bad in football but it kills us in basketball. Win the Belt and go to the dance you are almost guranteed playing the #1 first round as the #16 seed

I would say IF any team in the SunBelt had say 28 to 30 wins at the end of the season with quality wins ooc they'd be much higher than 16 or 15 seeds.

.. and if we were ACC or SEC we'd be sitting at home watching the First round. With zero chance to advance. If we were in the ACC (fantasy land) we would be able to recruit better players also. As far as zero chance to advance that is currently the current scenario. Our women's team has won the conference two years in a row and draw the #16 seed and get blown out first round. Mens team goes last year and draws Duke. There is always a chance for the upset but the odds are awfully slim.

Yall take your basketball chatter over to the basketball forum. This here is the football forum. Run along back to your fancy arena with your trophy cases and built in practice court.

We don't need a market, bammers, or the aubs to be successful. That doesn't necessarily have as much to do with conference affiliation anymore. A Sun Belt team entered the Top 25 for the first time ever. This conference has more upward mobility than any previous time in its short football history.
Build our own programs and conference and change the narrative.

Troy has no TV market....we wont be leaving the SunBelt anytime soon. And Auburn does? I don't understand that. We both share the Montgomery market. Columbus, GA adds 217,000 so we add Dothan which is 100,000. Smaller but I still don't get that?
