And that's your game. Too close for my taste but I'll take it.

Penalties are killing us, but I'll take it.

We went on the road and won a conference game. We held the ball for the final 6:15 to preserve the win. This was ugly and we still have major issues with penalties, especially on the "O" line, but we are 2-1 and headed home. Good job guys, way to fight 'til the end.

If we don't clean things up, we are in for some long days and nights against the likes of LSU, Ark State, App State and probably Akron. This week's work is vital.

More relieved than happy. Still zero imagination on play calling and made worse today by the D playing Rowell Ball. This won't get it done much longer.

Defense had it's moments. Our offense is still anemic. I'm sick and tired of the damn bubble screen. Silvers run for out last TD saved the game

We don't play App State so we can be thankful for that. But you are right, we need to clean up the mistakes we should be able to control. LSU looked vulnerable tonight but we will need to really step up to compete in that one. Ark State we have to play at championship level.

I think when we got a good lead, we closed the playbook. No need to show stuff when we were getting it done with those plays tonight. Take out just the false starts by our OL and you have a completely different ballgame.

One final observation. I agree that with the exception of the 4th and one keeper by Silvers for 6, the play calling wasn't very creative. I noticed that Silvers spent a lot of time retreating from and escaping a collapsing pocket. It's very difficult to be creative when the QB is running for his life. Can creativity slow down the defense, and take some of the load off the "O" line? Sure, but when a defense can flush the QB as much as Silvers was flushed tonight, they just pin their ears back, run down hill, and take their chances. We did well tonight to hand the ball to Chunn and Henderson and let them run by the first wave of defenders.

It's hard to go north-south going east-west. I'm with Jon Gruden on the disdain for the bubble screen. We are air raid not bubble raid

Apparently I watched a different game. I saw an offense that was much more creative than the previous two weeks. A QB and a few RBs that never quit and a defense that was extremely short handed yet we are 1-0 in conference play now. I will agree the penalties are a mess and I'm sure they will be addressed.

We are air raid not bubble raid I agree play calling has to be better, my wife was calling the plays as they lined up!! We have an all star back field why doesn't Anderson run more?? Give chunn a break. I like his style.

Yea, Fire Hemi for not sharing the Patron!!!
In all seriousness though, the team didn't look awful, the penalties killed us (no thanks to the refs, the last quarter they were just throwing them because we're Troy it seemed like), and the defense got little to no pressure on the QB. I don't see how NMSU's OLine is better than Boise's but that's my opinion. One conference win down, on to the next one!

Our defense did not help us this trip. I understand about keeping player fresh but we were trying to do to much with moving players in and out. Play your starters and let them get in to a rythem. The last two game we have tried to play everyone on defense. Bama and Vic I am a big fan of both of you but player your starters.

The defense is really good. I think we held them to -2 yards rushing at the half and ended with 51 on two big runs later in the game. The offense has to sustains drives and help out our D. We did ok today, but we still seem to lack an identity in the passing game. Akron's defense isn't that great so we'll have another opportunity to get into a rhythm. I'm not sure we'll get steamrolled by LSU after tonight. If we can get some offense going we may have a chance against the tigers.

Making a bad team look good. Sorry, this IS NOT a bad team. That kid at QB can throw and run. They will beat some people in the belt this year, maybe a lot of them! They gave him all night to throw with their protection, we almost NEVER put pressure in him and that's a compliment to their defensive line play. Arizona St barely beat them and New Mexico lost to them. I'm getting really tired of seeing the same number continue to get called for silly penalties that kills our offensive drives. No names or numbers but I can't understand why it doesn't end or someone else given a chance to prove they understand the cadence and snap number or call! We looked much better offensively this week especially early. Where's Jabir??? Brandon finally ran with the keeper for HUGE TD, it's open a lot if he chooses to run with it! Guess they are protecting him but him keeping it a few times per fame would really add to our offensive threat.

Bamer has no reason for mention in a TROY thread... I hope he was referring to Coach Hardmon, the DL coach. That would make sense in the context of the post. If he wasn't, then 100% what you said.
