I'm going to go ahead and agree with all the info posted here about H-burg. Can't go wrong with Keg and Barrel. Huge craft beer selection, great food, and a great college atmosphere. Crescent city is my favorite spot to grab food. Great New Orleans style food from Robert St. John, who has several books, and has been on travel channel, food network etc. Mugshots has great burgers. If you are a college student trying to save money you can drop into the new pizza joint called Mercury pizza that probably has the best $8 pizza you'll ever find.
This is starting to look like a hell of a game. I'm hoping you guys can bring at least a couple thousand to help make this a great atmosphere. C-USA is so spread out we don't get fans traveling in very often. La Tech will probably bring a decent crowd, UAB brings practically nothing (when they have a football team) and everyone else is a good distance away. USM fans are known to be very friendly outside of the stadium. Inside of the stadium may or may not be a different story though.
I'm assuming if you haven't already bought tickets you will have to buy them through our ticket office. USM has a bring a kid to the game promotion going for this one, so you can get a free kids ticket with the purchase of an adult ticket. If you were on the fence about coming, maybe this promotion will help.

The band travel schedule is determined by university administration instead of band staff. The band staff sends over a budget that includes costs for attending ALL games. University administration chooses the trips and informs the band staff where they will be going. I assumed it was something to that end. Thank you for the information. Do you think the band will only travel to the Georgia Southern and USA games? Too bad y'all couldn't bring them. I hope we bring our band on the return trip.

I hope we bring our band on the return trip. I know for a FACT that the band is only going to USA and GS. Full band to USA and a pep band to GS. Unfortunately, it appears as though the band budget shrinks every year. My first year in SOTS (2011), I believe we took a band to every game except the Arkansas and Clemson games. This is my first year out of the band. It seems like every year, administration shrunk our travel budget...

Why no band 2 weeks running? Was this the predetermined band schedule? Not even a pep band? Southern Miss seems close enough to send the SOTS or at least a pep band

Looking forward to the trip.

I guess it doesn't work like that.

Nice video. I found the entire Troy/Clemson game on youtube, trying to get a feel for what Troy can do. USM hired a guy last year that puts together some great recruiting videos the Wednesday after each game. Here is the one from the KY game. Thought some of you may be interested to see it.

I guess it doesn't work like that. Actually, that was the proposal to administration. The proposal also included the band performing at a high school competition in GA (the band's form of recruiting). That trip was chosen over the USM game. Not sure of the reason. But know that SOTS is ready to THROW DOWN at the next home game. And they also can't wait to DESTROY South Alabama.

Called the ticket office a few minutes ago. They said that you could get tickets through Troy until Thursday.

It takes 7 charge buses to move SOTS anywhere, plus a large box truck. That's gas, drivers through the night and feeding 350+ people. Also, if the charter company is like school buses, they get paid during the game as well, because they're still technically working.
In 2008, the trip to Murphressboro cost about 50k. That was under 300 people to stay 1 night

Amazing how people talk so ill of our Administration that is trying hard everyday to promote our University. When they rob Peter to pay Paul and need to recover monies possibly misused that should have stayed with the end zone project, talking ill of them seems polite at this point. It's deplorable.

Oh ok to bash certain parts of the Admin/staff but not ok on others ? Please lists the ones that are ok and not ok. Otherwise, folks are just being hypocrites when they say something and then turn around and do the same thing. (Not surprising though)
