We earned the #4 seed and will play host Texas State on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Winner gets the winner of ULL and Arkansas St. I am so proud of how this team was able to manage this season with injuries, and the highs and lows of this season to be able to end the season with 30+ wins, above .500 in conference, and the ability to not only take the series against USA, but deny them the #1 seed and an outright conference championship. Now just give it all we got in San Marco.

We took 2 of three from Tex St at their place a few weeks ago. I like our chances with Grant Bennett on the mound! And Lucas Brown is really pitching well so we could get two games into it without a loss if we can hit anything like we have the past two weeks.

hey and we still have Mabray, Gill, and Hebert who can start a game and give us quality inning, along with Childress and Skinner to come in and close. If our bats are hot like they have been, this will be an exciting tournament

End the agony already...
This team knows how to throw a game away, that's for sure. No defense and poor judgement all around.
Come on football season.

hasn't Troy won a tourney from the loser's bracket before? No, they've never done that in D1. Maybe D2. In 2011 they lost the first game of the tournament, and won the rest of the games against FAU and WKU... but UALR won the tournament. They were using a round-robin format back then if I remember correctly.

.... and they once again found a way to lose. Troy was winning 12-6 in the 7th inning. Arkansas State scored 7 unanswered runs to win the game, including 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning.
This baseball team needs to find some motivation this off-season and Mark Smartt needs to go out and recruit some better players. You'd be blind if you thought this baseball team was as talented as previous teams. With Coastal Carolina coming into the conference, Troy is going to remain a middle-of-the-pack baseball team in the Sun Belt until they want to play baseball.
I'm sure some of you will tell me I'm wrong and off base... but this program has too much tradition and has too many positive attributes not to be competing year in and year out for a Sun Belt title or NCAA bid, and my expectations won't change on that.

It's difficult not to be disappointed at this teams lack of accomplishments. The two games in Texas was REALLY a disappointment. Something is missing. Pitching seemed extremely limited, errors were never ending. I agree, Coach Smart needs to do some high level recruiting starting.....yesterday!

I rarely post and I'm disappointed in the outcome as well. But I doubt anyone is as frustrated as our players. Lots of mistakes, to be sure. Recruiting top athletes goes without saying but these guys showed lots of promise and delivered some good wins. We lose some seniors to graduation and I'm sure coach is already beating the bushes for next year's team.

I am shocked at the end of the game collapse. Happened against South last week as well. I guess we can expect coach Smartt to attend all of the Trojan Tour stops since his schedule is now clear.

I like what Coach Smartt is doing recruiting wise. He's aggressively recruiting high schools and we have signed and have commits again from the Orlando area which arguably is the best high school baseball in Florida. A lot of talent there and I'm glad to see us recruiting there again. He IMO is trying to build long term, not just put a bandage on a wound. We took some lumps this year but I see us improving in the near future.

I am glad that in a year when we "took some lumps" we finished tied for third in the conference and went 3-3 against the top two teams in the conference, I am very proud that a third place finish is not satisfactory and that we are building for the future from such a good foundation. Mark Smart is the real deal and I am confident that anything short of championship baseball is far below his standard. He certainly knows what winning championships is all about as both a player and coach. We were in contention with a new head coach and many young players. Good things are in store over the next couple of seasons!
