Great effort from the team tonight!!! Looks like maybe they get to keep their jobs another week. Hopefully the smartphone AD's have mercy on them.

I think a congrats is in order. The men did a great job out there against a tough Texas State!
But come on, 4 wins on the season doesn't mean that Cunningham is golden now... so excuse me for expecting more.

Is this enough improvement to make you fellas happy? Probably not. Fire everybody. No. We want to win game(S), lots of them. And championships. Please as Troy supporter, lets expect to win. Interesting enough, y'all are the ones saying wins and losses are not important, so why now do you want everyone to get on bended knee and worship this one win? Especially when y'all give everyone crap when people question when the team loses 9 out of 10 before this win. A win is a win. I love winning, hate losing. Unless we get on a major tear, it looks like a .500 record will be a struggle. And that is unacceptable at this point. And if we as fans accept losing than we are part of the problem.

Funny to see you follow everything so closely, yet you don't even know how many games the team has actually won. Sounds like someone who score watches in hopes of a loss to pile on with the negativity. I don't see anyone claiming coach Cunningham to be Golden. I do see people that attend the games and support the team that are happy for the team to get one in the win column. I saw fans, players, and coaches that were excited to get over that hump yesterday. Do you really think you are more upset about starting 0-5 than the players or coaches?

I saw fans, players, and coaches that were excited to get over that hump yesterday. Do you really think you are more upset about starting 0-5 than the players or coaches? Well Hemi, I do know our record, and we have won 4 games against D1 teams. I don't count wins against DII and NAIA teams toward the record, and neither does the NCAA or almost every website that calculates RPI or statistics. They're essentially meaningless games that help a team get a competitive scrimmage in during the season to shore up any shortcomings. So you're wrong in calling me a fan that looks for negativity. You can easily find the latest women's basketball thread that I started, congratulating the women and Coach Rigby and saying how impressive their offense is, as well as how they have the ability to make it to the postseason. I'm a live game follower and attend most home games for both teams, so I'm not a score watcher... And lastly, I never said I was more upset than the coaches and players about the men's team's current record. But don't I have the right to be a little upset as a fan that I see gobs of talent on this team that isn't producing? For whatever reason that is. If anyone on this board finds it wrong for a fan to be upset over losses, especially in this situation involving the men's team for the past 6 seasons, then I'd like to know why that make me a negative fan? I personally think some of you should get to where you expect more out of our sports teams instead of always, always, always settling for the "well it's whatever, they're trying their best..." attitude. There are athletic directors at some schools with that same attitude, and most of those athletic programs are in the cellar. I'm not saying that one or two losing seasons is the end of the world, but come on folks... yall need to expect more instead just going with the flow.

If you actually attend most home games, and you don't see improvement in the men's team, then I would seriously question whether you're in the right arena. I don't see anyone accepting mediocrity. I do see some that choose to whine on a message board when they're team struggles.

No one is whining though. You can't call an upset fan that expects more out of a team a "whiner." I see improvement compared to last season, without a doubt. I also see more talented, athletic players. But just because they show improvement doesn't mean I have to accept losses as part of a third-year rebuilding process. Some of the starters will not head to bucket for rebounds when they should, and some of them don't execute their screens when the person with the ball is trying to drive to the bucket. Why do yall think this team takes so many three-pointers? It's not because Coach Cunningham wants to, it's because players aren't blocking out properly and setting up the plays correctly, so all you have left is to take a three-pointer. I'm sorry to say it, but that's a coaching issue.

Support the team as long as they win? These are your guys! The keyboard coaches and smartphone AD's are here to tell you exactly what the coaches and players are doing wrong, without ever stepping foot in the arena. Anonymous screams for accountability will be heard!!!!!!!!! (Likely to be ignored also, but don't tell them)

It seems like the "go with the flow" people always resort to calling the upset fans "keyboard coaches" and "smartphone AD's." I am for Cunningham having another season, but I have the right to be disappointed that he hasn't developed and coached the team to where they can win games. I'd be willing to bet those of you calling us "smartphone AD's" and mocking us by saying "fire trainers! Fire players!" are the same ones that wanted to keep Blakeney and Bolt for another year... you folks need some vision and you need to stop settling for complacency and status quo.

No one is happy with basketball losing the first five games, but I also know they are much improved, despite their record. As for Bolt, you won't hear me mention his name. Blakeney, despite how it ended, deserved to be treated with respect. Even though he couldn't careless what you keyboard coaches and smartphone AD's thought.

This team is improved. This team is pretty young as we have only 1 Sr. This unit is more physical, physically fit and much more competitive. I loved Coach Maestri and Coach Felix but I have to be very honest here, they did not leave Ol' Phil much - and that is a fact. I think Cunningham gets next year and I even give him the year after right now as long as the team continues to improve. We still lack depth but with a young team and bringing in at least a couple more high school kids that can contribute immediately, I think things are moving and will continue to move in the RIGHT direction. You heard it here first - Sunbelt Champs - 2018 if Cunningham is here.

Last year in the NCAA there was a team who went 38-1 with 8 of their top 10 players in minutes played being freshmen and sophomores. I know Troy is not that team, but youth is only PART of the problem. I do believe time and experience will prove this team and this coach to be much better than they appear right now.
