I am surprised we haven't gotten more UAB transfers. Why is that? Are we still pursuing some?

I'd rather build up our own players instead of kids coming in thinking that they will run the program because they played together before

Didn't CNB say that he met and talked with the UAB players and that we would go after a few but not many?

Possibly that the roster has (60ish) Jr/Sr players now, best to keep some musket powder dry for the future

I would rather go after HS players than get many UAB players for 1 or 2 years... That's just about like going after all Juco players

With USA having 5 returning starters, I don't know if this plug and play idea is going to work. Could be a lot of chemistry issues. Not all of them started for UAB either. I'd bet most did not.

No doubt here...Definite chemistry issues coupled with other issues as a result of 32 out going seniors.....

Phil Steele reports South Alabama as having the fewest returning starters in the country. Of the 5 returning starters only two are on defense and only two of those 9 UAB players they snagged are defensive personnel. The rest are following their OC to South. I like our chances with a new coaching staff in Troy when USA comes to town. I believe by Game 5 our offense will be good enough to beat a USA defense plagued by graduation. Those seniors with extended eligibility from when USA first began their program are all gone now. They will have to recruit like the rest of us. philsteele.com/Blogs/2015/JAN15/DBJan05.html

Hope he enjoys 5k fans in a 30k stadium in 20 degree weather with snow. Toledo's program is in a whole lot better situation than ours is right now. Plus, they are on TV a lot more than we are as well. Would of loved to add some DB depth, but I don't think we even have a full coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball. What is the delay? Recruiting will be picking up in the next week or so.

I believe NIU had around 13k and they went to the Orange bowl a couple years ago

I believe NIU had around 13k and they went to the Orange bowl a couple years ago I was commenting on your specific statement that it wouldn't be the case at Troy. There were a few times it was. And in reality, when programs like LSU and Florida draw 90,000 every game, is there really much difference between 16,000 and 19,000? I'd say no. We all, SBC, MAC, CUSA, have a lot of catching up to do.

Even in our best years, the Thanksgiving weekend home games are a killer. When we were D1AA there were some playoff games that might have had 1,000 people there. It is what it is, but I like where we are heading and think we have a shot at filling up that stadium when we start winning.
