I’m old enough to be the grand dad of a bunch of you. When I was coming off age, a football team had a head coach and some assistants. Bigger programs, like college and NFL teams, had coordinators and position coaches. The first time I remember hearing of an “analyst” was when Saban hired Sark as an offensive analyst. Help an old codger out. What exactly is an offensive analyst? Is he essentially responsible for video study and breakdown for the purpose of providing data to the appropriate coordinator or is the job something else entirely? I ask this because the guy being reported to be our next OC is a senior analyst for the Packers and I’m curious what that entails.

Men played a great game to smash the Mustard Buzzards. The refs decided to insert themselves into the game, calling a “T” on each side and calling more lame, away from the ball fouls than I’ve ever seen. They called them on both sides but somehow, every time they called one on the Buzzards, it forced us to reset and inbound the ball. The refs killed multiple possessions in which we were controlling the game. Bad job all around by the stripes.

Women had a great game against JMU. Adjustment after first quarter lead a change from a double digit deficit to a double digit lead. Women with 4 straight conference win. Ladies took seven games to finally win one, but they’ve jelled at the right time. That was a conference-leading JMU they whipped! And whip them they did,

Just for kicks and giggles, let's talk top 5 'Bama prospects. These are my thoughts
1) Dan Lanning - Removed his name from consideration today, so #1 prospect in my book is off the table.
2a) Dabo - Once considered heir apparent, but some of the luster has tarnished over the past 3 years
2b) Lane - Had success at 'Bama and is well liked by many. Joey has a lot of baggage that the blue bloods might not be willing to accommodate
4) Sark - Like Lane, had success at 'Bama and has baggage. In addition, Texas has as much, if not more, $$$ to throw at him as 'Bama and he's coming to the SEC next year. Not sure how interested he'd be.
5) Prime - I've seen his name bandied about, but I don't think he'll be a serious candidate. If the blue looks won't accommodate Lane's baggage, they sure won't accommodate Prime's brash, over the top antics. I'd say calling him a long shot is an understatement
I'm not sure what to think about Norvell. I'm not sure he's realistically a candidate.
What say you?

Stars are what we see on a dark, cloudless night when we look up in the sky. I say that to say 3 star, 4 star, 5 star recruiting ratings don't always mean a lot. That said, players coming from P5 programs typically will be better players, therefore garnering more stars, than those recruited by G5 guys. The portal giveth, the portal taketh and often times the giving offsets the taking.

This team is actually more fun to watch than last year's veteran team. There's so many different players that can score, and they all seem to be gelling pretty well. In addition to the things you mentioned, this team has personality. It’s fun to see the difference between the 2 freshmen Dowd and My Rigsby. Dowd is is cool, calm, collected, and unflappable in stressful situations while My Rigsby is animated, fiery, and emotional. Neither of those are bad and they blend well together. As long as Rigsby allows himself to be reigned in when needed, he provides a spark that, in my opinion, has been lacking. That’s two freshmen with different leadership styles that they are using well. This bunch is fun to watch.

Mid week obligations kept me from making Wednesday's game but I'll see you all on Saturday. I can't wait to avenge last year's loss to the Mustard Birds.

It appears that Gary Banks, Caleb Carbine, and all of the recently departed coaches not withstanding, there are quality, experienced, and smart football people out there that don't have TROY ties. Let me be clear, lest I cause a dust up, I have ZERO problems with hiring people with TROY connections. In fact, I think there are former players and perhaps some former coaches who would be good coaches for the TROJANS, but I'm glad ADBJ and HCGP haven't limited their search to those with TROY ties. We still have to play 14 games but I am eagerly anticipating the '24 season. I think we will see new and different things in The VET.

Tucker Kilcrease was highly touted out of HS, Brantley, I believe, but nobody ever mentions him. Is he not living up to the hype?

We're now 2-0 in conference after last night's game in which we led ODU from the opening tip. Dowd had came back strong with his first double double with 11 its and 11 RB. He was a critical part of the play of the game. Freshmen not playing like freshmen and providing on court leadership bodes well for the future. Big game tomorrow against good App State team. Need a good crowd in Trojan Arena A very good App team. They beat Auburn. They are very quick, very fast, and very athletic. Beating them will require our best, buzzer to buzzer.

I’m hearing we may have a shot at a 5* out of Mississippi named Shooter Wilson. He doesn’t have a highlight page because he doesn’t want to do the whole social media stuff. I heard his dad is a Revenuer that shut down a whole lot of illegal moonshine stills. Shooter should 1) fit in well and 2) be very disciplined. I hope we land him.

College Football should separate P5 and G5Create playoff for both - make things allot more fun to watch BOWL season has been meh imo this year Congrats to Tez! He balled out for sure No. We fought hard in the late '90s, early '00s to get away from that set up. I don't care what kind of "bowl" season we have. If you don't think the move to Div I made a difference in TROY and TROY football, watch a NDSU or Idaho game. Look at the facilities and the quality of play and compare it to what we enjoy. We are where we are only because we mad the move from a lower division to the top level of CFB. we have to fight to not go back.

I know Dowd left the SUNO game with what appeared to be an ankle injury. He ain’t play today. Is he injured? He was in the postgame locker room photo so that’d be my guess I saw the same thing. He had a good game vs EKU, I wonder if he aggravated the previous ankle injury.

When a new coach arrives, it is understood, by most, that a majority, if not all, of the coaching staff will turn over. We understood that, even discussed it. That said, for the ENTIRE staff to follow the previous HC is, as was posted on Twitter, gut punch after gut punch. The positive in this, I guess, is that those departing coaches are recognized as quality coaches and by all considerations, it appears those coming onboard are as well.

Spot onâ¦â¦The Sun Belt Conference is the gateway to future stout contractsâ¦â¦Malzahn,Freeze,Harsin,Drinkwitz,Brown,Sumrall,Cignetti,Satterfield all profited handsomely by taking sun belt jobs. Fans thinking we were scraping the bottom of the barrel to hire Notre DameâÂÂs OC seems misguided I'm glad you are impressed by the title of Notre Dame OC. To quote Shania, that don't impress me much and that in no way means he'll be good at being THE man in the big chair. So, in that "pros" column wishlist of what I want vs. what I got and some possibilities I liked more before AND once I knew who the hire was (which will answer your question, Hemi). Proven success at leading a college football program |||||||||| Proven success at running an offense at a notable school. Bill Clark |||||||||| (The HC we donât speak of) Lindsay
Rich Rodriguez Cadillac Williams*** Freddie Kitchens ***only an interim head coach but is currently more successful as interim than 0-6, particularly after each taking over a program basically in shambles. This is just to name a few of my preferables and they're not in order and don't include coaches we know but have no HC xp which would expand my very impromptu and short list WAY further and still wouldn't have Parker's name show up yet. Were I to include coaches without HC xp, I think I might could arrive at 20 names before I hit Parker's. Sean Reagan, Gasperano (spelling intentional), Charles Kelly, and Matt Moore just to name a quick few before I head to Christmas lunch. We could argue the merits of each of these candidates and I'm certain every fan on this board would have their own reasons on why each of these would or wouldn't be a good fit but that wasn't Hemi's question. And Parker might turn out to be better than our last coach! But to me, it is a complete roll of the dice on what is basically an unknown. The fact that (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) is on your list, or on anyone else's list for that matter, speaks volumes.

Birmingham did a good job hosting! The pre game activities were really good and Troy did an excellent job last night and this morning! The stadium is nice to watch a game but getting in and navigating to goto concessions or the rest room is awful ! It’s a pretty neat venue with traffic on the Highway visible to the south and the low flying planes to the north ! I agree except for one thing. I don't know who designed the stadium, but why on this earth did they think it was a good thing to build it in such a way that entrance requires a walk UP 4 ramp levels to get to the top of the lower bowl only to walk DOWN to the field that is at street level.

Wait! So south is playing in a bowl game in their own on campus stadium? AHHHH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! What a bunch of losers. They’re also using the visitors’ locker room. However, late in the 2nd qtr, they are waxing EMU 38-3 so I’ll just sit this one out.

I’m a firm believer that constructive criticism should be given when warranted. I also am firm believer that praise should be given when warranted as well.
To whomever arranged for the shuttles to run continuously from the team hotel to the fan social at Dred River last night - BRAVO! KUDOS for creativity and attention to the fan experience. There were so many TROJANS in that place, we couldn’t walk an I feel confident in saying this increased participation by 100% or more. Here’s to a job well done.

Clemsons donor plan was best when it started. IPTAY (I pay ten a year). Ten sounds like nothing for donor but when you get thousands of donors to just start it adds up. YES, when we went to Clemson you saw IPTAY stickers on almost every car, GREAT idea that probably just barely covered the advertising & production costs the first year ... BUT can you imagine what it is pulling in now!?! Here's my story. After trying unsuccessfully for for 2 years to make a living selling insurance, I found myself unemployed with a wife, 2 kids, and a mortgage. School was my only option. For the next 4 years, we lived off scholarships, grants, my wife's tireless 50 hour work weeks, and the grace of God. Those times were hard...eat a ham sandwich with our Kraft mac n cheese, or go to our son's middle school football game... hard. There was zero entertainment. On the day I graduated, I received a packet from the Alumni Association. Included in that packet was a flyer from the athletic department. It offered us, as new grads, the opportunity to join what was then the 2 For 2 program. We could buy 2 season tickets for 2 years at half price ($25/each). We decided to go out on a limb and take $150 from my first paycheck and buy 4 tickets. That $150 came from a new grad who should have been legally bankrupt and iddm't have the proverbial pot, but came it did. I became a Troy fan that year and, as they say, the rest is history. I share this to say, it doesn't have to be complicated, it doesn't have to be a huge amount of money that's being requested, it just has to be something that is creative and catches the eye of its intended market. These type of things may still be done, I don't know, but little things like 1995's 2 For 2 program for new grads will pay huge dividends down the road.

The program is bigger than one person. Stop with irrational comments. I am keeping receipts and I am coming for you. Just like Fester....this is bad. This guy is 0-6. He’s 0-6 as an interim on a PURDUE team that was already 0-6, and that’s what you’re going to hang your hat on? Give him, and us, a break.

It was a bit convoluted. We still had a good signing day. I should just stop doing Tequila shots with Norm in the middle of the day. Are you sure that was the cause? Reading CDC directives will make you lose your mind as well.
