After taking 2 of 3 from the Panthers, the TROJANS have a .667 overall win % and a .633 % in conference play. The Rangers won the WS last year with a.556 regular season %. It would be good for the RPI for us to have won some of the “big” games we lost, but .667 winning % in baseball is excellent, I don’t care what league you’re playing in. If we finish strong, we will be fine.

Bubba, this should be an easy fix. Sitting on the floor at the base of the seating section at your end of the court would be the best place for their safety and your court view. They play a big role at our games, and I am glad they come (many times in massive numbers). They are following orders from their leadership team, so hopefully, the cheer coaches can make this adjustment easily, allowing fans to have better visibility. Go TROY! Agree 💯 with all of your points.

His greatest achievement was when T-Roy made ESPN top 10 for getting in a fight with another mascot! 🤣 Nice… I guess it would be too much to hope for that it was the Jax State mascot.

T-Roy is the pathway to great achievement. One of our local neurosurgeons spent time as T-Roy. Which one? If you give me a name and years, I can always add more to the story. I didn't bring this up during the season because I didn't want to distract from the discussion of the great job our men's and women's teams were doing. I also want to make it abundantly clear that I am in no way "anti" cheerleader. They are a valuable part of the TROJAN team and play an important role in getting the attending fans engaged and involved in the games. That said, there is an issue i feel should be be addressed.
If you watch any college basketball game, at any time, in any conference (Sun Belt included) you will see that during the on the court action the cheerleaders are seated on the floor along the baseline. They cheer, loudly, and during breaks in the action, such as after successful free throws, they do cheerleading things (flips, tosses, stunts etc). Our cheerleaders, on the other hand, stand for the entire game. There are those of us who choose to sit on the baseline in the low rows because of the ability to see the action (think end zone football seats) and be closer to it. I am one of those fans. I purchase season tickets and really enjoy the games, but the standing cheerleaders obstruct the view of the game. I know this board is monitored by athletic department personnel and fans who are more connected than I, and I'm asking that before next season, this will be addressed with the cheer team. They can continue to contribute to the game atmosphere and continue to be a vital part of crowd involvement and they can do those things without obstructing the view of those of us who buy tickets and choose to sit in the baseline seats.

I will be there in the fall, every Saturday. It's more than just football or entertainment for me. Tailgate time with lifelong friends is not easily replaced. That said, in the "old days", which was not too long ago, you used your strength as a recruiter, your programs accolades, and your coaches reputation to sign the guys you want and build a great program. Now the competition for recruits has moved from the staff office to the banks. Troy's 8 SBC titles since 2006 don't mean as much when Texas State can sign big time talent just by opening their wallet. I always looked forward to recruiting season, and then the fall to see what we could do. Recent developments have me thinking about football less and less during the down months. Other things on my mind. This past "Bowl" season crystalized and brought all the negative factors into focus, players opting out of games, Coaching staffs shredded by "selling out" early, Conference changes, Portal, NIL and you name what? $$$ and the potential of more $$ drives all the change. NCAA seems impotent to do anything right. Agree with all the above, just makes the game less interesting for this fan. Understatement of the year. That's as much a given saying Clemson fumbled or that the UAB receiver was down at the one.

I find these Transfer statements by the exiting player to be mostly bullcrap. $$ talk, players walk. Why can't he just say "TU offered me more/less, I'm outta here." It will be interesting to see where he lands. For his sake, I hope his landing spot is already secured. There are an awful lot of players in the portal for not so many spots.

It was a weak schedule, and the team didn't start playing well together until mid to late December... lost a lot of OOC games. Troy needs to quit scheduling three non-D1 teams every year. I know it requires money to get other D1 schools to come to Troy, but geez... Troy isn't helping the Sun Belt raise its national profile with the way our schedule has been looking... Maybe some of the increased “budgetary resources” will be used to strengthen the OOC home schedule.

You pretty much summed it up. We lost 4 non conference games (2 in OT, if my memory is correct) that would have vastly improved our chances of an NIT bid. We lost a close one to Oregon, a close one to Dayton, and OT lost AT HOME to to Sam Houston, and a gave against Ole Miss very early in the season, before we found our identity. The Dayton and Sam Houston losses pretty much killed our NIT hopes. Win those, and either of the other two and an NIT bid would have been automatic, in my opinion. If we can keep the team together (avoid NIL and transfer departures) we should be able to win those better OOC games next season. It also doesn't help that we dropped 2 to Arkansas St. in the last 2 weeks of the season and got beat by Texas St. in the last game and bounced by them an 11 seed in the tournament. That’s true, but the original question was about strength of schedule and quality of OOC wins. Our failure to make the NIT was multi factorial for sure.

Troy’s men didn’t even garner an invite to the NIT ? Just how low was their power index rankings ? If that low for a 20 win team, was their schedule a paper tiger ? It’s been a few years since I knew the metrics but if my understanding is correct, either non-con was weak or Troy didn’t win any non-con games against any sort of decent teams ? Why no bid ? You pretty much summed it up. We lost 4 non conference games (2 in OT, if my memory is correct) that would have vastly improved our chances of an NIT bid. The contract includes increased “budgetary support”. It’ll be interesting to see what that looks like. Given that the assistant staff salary pool was also increased and that we have the best arena in the conference and one of the best in midmajors its size keeps it from being at the top), I would think this means more NIL money. "Alston Money" may be the implication here??? NIL $ will most definitely impact all G5 programs. I learned something here. I’d not heard of “Alston Money”. Thanks, Teach.

If this information has been made public before today, I have missed it. This is a gut punch, and not because of any football related reasons. This young man has a fight on his hands and will need our prayers and financial support, to whatever extent one is able to do so. There are a LOT of individual and corporate sponsors involved in TROJAN athletics. I know that many of those entities either have, or will, pony up to help. Reaching the set goal should be a slam dunk. TROJAN Nation, corporate and individuals, we've got this.
Get well Chris, football will still be here after you whip this cancer's A**.

I think Chanda could be a lifer at Troy. The fanbase loves her and she always has our team with a chance to compete. I think Cross's consistent success without matching titles/post season appearances (that matter) won't be a factor in Troy moving on, but it could cause him to go on. He might shrug his shoulders one of these days and say, "You just can't win men's basketball titles here." While true, this would be a second school that Cross rarely/never got across the finish line. He's going to need to consistently contend for the title by playing in the game a few times before he gets a bigger job. I love what he's built here. He has the talent. Now he needs to develop/recruit some leaders that are clutch, that won't let the team lose in crucial moments. When Phil got us to the tournament, he had recruited Florida transfer DeVon Walker to join us for one year.. DeVon wasn't the volume scorer, but the was a guy that contributed the key rebound, the key assist, the key steal when it was needed. The scoring talent was already there with Person, Varnado, Hollimon, etc. He just needed to bring the leadership and grittiness, and he did. That's why Troy got hot at the right time and rolled through the SBC tournament. This team was overall very young. We may have the most talent that our school's ever seen, but there's something to say about have that grizzled veteran that refuses to lose. I can see a future in which both Dowd and Rigsby develop into that leader, each with different, but complimentary, skills and personalities.

Agree to disagree. We shouldn’t be happy with only making it to the SBC quarterfinals the last two years and the semifinals 3 years ago. I'll make 2 points. 1) If you were to poll the members of this board, including those of us who disagree that firing Cross next year should even be an option, you'll find that 95% of us are NOT happy with the way the season turned out. We had a chance to make noise, and we are all disappointed that we came up short. Nobody is saying "Let's throw a party and celebrate getting bounced in the quarter finals". When all the dust settles and the post season is done, we can celebrate the successes we enjoyed this year (20 wins for the 3rd straight season; record attendance, ticket sales, and revenue; 3 players earning post season awards (Myles Rigsby, Tayton, and Spud), and a number 3 seed in the conference tourney for a team that was picked to finish in the lower third of the conference. Those are successes, and the last one is a testament to HCSC and his ability to inspire, teach, and lead a bunch of YOUNG college basketball players. 2) Don't forget, we played the final two games of the schedule without Jackson Fields and the tourney game with a Jackson Fields that I'm sure was not at full speed. It's a long season, and every team has players get banged up and injured, and every team must find a way to overcome those injuries (if you look at what what Valdez and Conerway did the final two regular season games, you'll see we didd that) but losing Jackson was a a huge blow and it's impact cannot be discounted.

We would probably have been 17-16 if we didn’t play 3 really good high school teams. I like Coach Cross, I think he is a pretty good recruiter. That said, winning championships is what matters. Heck, Coach Cunningham won a SBC championship. Actually, Troy was ranked #33 in the nation in Pythagorean wins, which is games Troy probably should have won based on statistical performance versus their competition. According to that data, Troy was very, very close to being 26-5. With a team that had what, just 3 players returning? And was picked to finish 12th in the SBC? Stop using facts. They aren't allowed here.

Is Grayson Stewart hurt? You expect maybe one or two rough starts to the season, but he’s struggled mightily a month in. The style he throws has very small room for mistakes. He works the upper part of the zone, which is why he doesn’t get a lot of ground ball outs. When he is working the edges/black with precision, he’s almost unhittable. When the mistake is made in the upper part of the zone down the middle, it goes a long way. I’m sure Meade and Landon will get it fixed. Not to be redundant, but as you said, up in the zone is a tough place to have consistent success. When a pitcher can work up in the zone then command low and away, or vice versa, he can dominate hitters. In order to have long term, consistent success, however, a pitcher has to be able to change location, speed, and, unless he's a power reliever, planes. They're a lot of "throwers" that have short term success, but a "pitcher" can hang a round a long time (i.e. Jamie Moyer, Greg Maddux, et al).

That's odd. I've had no issues. In fact I onlt get "game starting" and "final" notifications I get those as well as end of period score updates for the 3 sports (FB, MBB, WBB) that i've marked to follow. The same setting that allows the end of period score updates also enables live update on game stats/score to allow you to follow the game live when unable to attend. I assume if you follow baseball and or softball and have the live update toggled on, you'd get score updates at the end of each 1/2 inning.

Reinstalling the app may reset the defaults for you. There are two locations within the app to configure notifications. At the bottom right, elect more. Then you can select the team you wish to follow (it sounds like you may have done that already, if not, it's worth a try). Finally, under the same "More" tab, there is a settings link that will let you toggle on and off things like "Live updates". I don't know if this will help you or not, but it's worth a shot.

Honesty compels me to say, midway through the schedule, I too felt we'd never win another road game.To the credit of HCSC, his staff, and a great group young men, they have turned things around and have a great shot at winning the tourney. This is a young team that has matured and come of age before our eyes. Myles Rigsby and Victor Valdez are in my opinion, the best examples of this.

Great win, great season and still a chance to to to 21 wins.
I didn't see the game but I did look at the game stats as summarized on the TROY app. Did the 2 teams REALLY combine for 77 trips to the line? If so, the officials called every cross eyed look, or it was a street brawl. Of the two, I'd like to think it was a street brawl. It would be nice to know we won a game that was that physical.
