Coaches kids often make really good players. Austin's resume speaks for itself. "Cross played for both Pike Liberal Arts School and Charles Henderson during his high school career, leading PLAS to an AISA State Championship in 2021-2023 and helping CHHS make it to just its second ever State Championship appearance in school history in 2022-2023. During his junior campaign, Cross was named a finalist for the AISA Mr. Basketball, earned All-State honors and won The Messenger’s Winter Athlete of the Year. He averaged 21.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. As a senior, Cross won The Messenger’s Player of the Year, was named Class 5A Player of the Year and was a finalist for Mr. Basketball. He also earned All-Messenger, Dothan Eagle Super 12 and All-State honors as he averaged 23.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game." The Scoop by joshboutwell Former Charles Henderson star Austin Cross will be coming home to Troy to play for his father, Scott Cross, as he committed to play college basketball at Troy University this weekend. Cross, who graduated from Charles Henderson last year, has been attending Florida Coastal Prep Sports Academy in Fort Walton, Fla. “The season went great,” Cross said of playing in prep school. “I lived in a beach house with a couple of my teammates, so that was fun. My teammates that I lived with were great and we had a bunch of different people from different countries that we played with. I got to learn a lot being down there.”..... SCOOP- Enterprise defensive tackle Jamel Fils-Aime’ commits to TroyRead more at: www.troymessenger.com/2024/04/18/enterprise-defensive-tackle-jamel-fils-aime-commits-to-troy/By joshboutwell On April 17, Enterprise native Jamel Fils-Aime’ announced his commitment to transfer to Troy University to continue his college football career. Fils-Aime’ played high school football at Enterprise High School and the 6-foot-3-inch, 320-pound defensive tackle started his college career at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas. He tallied 26 tackles, 4.5 tackles-for-loss, one sack and three pass breakups in 2023. Fils-Aime’ chose to commit to Troy over offers from other schools like Sam Houston State, Western Kentucky, Ball State, Utah State, Liberty, Middle Tennessee, New Mexico, Jacksonville State and more. Fils-Aime’ is also a legacy at Troy University as his sister, La’Tia Fils-Aime’, played for the women’s basketball team from 2015 through 2018. “(Troy) has been a school I always wanted to go to ever since I watched my sister play basketball there,” Fils-Aime’ said of his decision to commit to Troy. “I used to go to a lot of football games and it just makes sense to go back home.” Troy Messenger

Now that I have read the article. Young folks are being told that a degree is a bad investment. They calculate the cost of a degree and the student loans that follow them to the grave against potential earnings and opt out. I have 3 degrees and make a good salary working for a company. My salary is nowhere near what two of my wealthiest friends make working for themselves without multiple degrees. One friend does have a BS from Troy, and he cleans dryer vents. He makes much more money than I do. My second friend has no degree and he sells and installs window blinds. He also invested in rental properties and is now a multi millionaire at age 50. College is overpriced and the cost is not based on return on investment. For example, a nursing student at Troy and a liberal arts student pay the same, but one graduate has earning potential more than the other. College is broken and kids are starting to see that it can quickly go from an investment to a scam. I'm in the camp of some degrees being bad investments. Most people know this, but I dropped out of Troy after three failing quarters and never took another college course. College is not for everyone, hard work goes a long way and we need more electricians, plumbers, mechanics and HVAC people. Troy U might best take a look at 2-4 year Technical degrees??

We should be focused on seeing the Troy campus get to 10,000 and shut down all the satellites. I was at a health fair at the Dothan campus this week and I have no idea what the purpose of this facility is. That property is worth millions and is nothing more than a JUCO with an empty parking lot. I was there 4 hours and saw zero students. If its purpose is school at night, and it’s going well then clearly I’m in the wrong. Ditto. I drive by that campus often. It would make a fine Golf Course, Country Club and Corporate Retreat!

The FANatic Ole corn wants to win EVERY Game. Ole Corn appreciates any FANatic who thinks like wise. But realistically, Ole corn accepts up and down of game play and even series or season play; corn hold his lip publicly due to student athlete and staff efforts in the heat of battle. corn never has all the facts, bit lip and ate shoe for many years of his FANatic years. Student player and staff read all this. No need to distract or demoralize foiks during heat of the battle.
Troy Coaches and Staff have proven they're no dummies, adjustments will be made during the season by Coaches and offseason by mutual Staff and Admin review. It's their jobs(s).
ALL fans have freedom of speech, guarantee! But ALL fans have freedom to disagree. corn appreciate keeping board clean tho'. Troy Trojans above all that.

Nice to see Trottens alter ego Possum is back. Quit being so negative Possum comes out of his hole (again) when he thinks negativity makes an impact. HELLO! Negativity rarely supports the path to positive change in the direction of Troy Athletics. HC Chanda Rigby? Possum have as much a crystal ball as ole cornhole. Fact: Troy Athletics laying out a path for HCCR continued success at Troy. As we talk.

It’s hard to beat a good team three times in a season, but I’m confident the ladies can put ULM away. They’re shooting better than they have all year. Looking at who’s left in the field, no one absolutely scares me. This could be a GREAT year for women’s basketball. Could be epic!
