Did y'all also hear Dr. Hawkins talk about keeping receipts? 😂 I'm pretty sure he quoted Scarbinsky when he was dogging us in the early 90s for moving to FCS.

I liked him. I was impressed.
I like that he mentioned the importance of keeping our defense a TMTDM defense.
I also liked that he seems to want to retain as much of our current staff as possible. He see's the quality coaches that are already on staff, and isn't trying to clean house to bring "his guys" in.
LET'S GO COACH PARKER!!

enjoyed press conference and seems like it will be good. I remember press conferences in the past. Only once was I thinking at the end: Oh my what have we done??? Now I will let you guess which one that was in the past. Good luck to HCGP. See you all God willing Saturday in Birmingham!!!

No red flags. Heard what I had hope to hear. Seems humble and wants to plug into community and student body and serve his players.

Wow. I don't remember all that but to my credit it was a long, long time ago lol. Wonder why Parker didn't get the same type of video.

I got a couple of minutes:
I saw a young, humble, and hungry coach. He will win us a couple of championships and then he will graduate on. Rinse and repeat is our life now.
I didn’t get all of his version of ATDL, but I believe it began with Respect. I’ll watch it again and get it. I still put ATDL in TBBjr’s lunchbox note.
Coach Parker is a green head coach. We can’t deny that. It’s fortunate that we have a strong foundation with well developed players that will hopefully get HCGP hitting full stride soon enough.
For now, let’s let the IHCGG team go kick the S out of Duke while HCGP recruits some great players.

JHawk also called Duke an ACC Power. nah bruh. But if you listen closely there was one line uttered by JHawk that spoke VOLUMES and one of the reasons why Sumrall wanted out of Troy.

I'm guessing the "do more with less" line? That's our reality, I'm afraid. Yes. 1, Troy fans need to understand that. It is who we are, yep reality. Why you treat these coaches to an extent, like paid mercenaries. HC Parker would not be at that podium, spewing all his feel goods if Troy was not paying a lot of money. 2, Sumrall saw that he was going to be nickeled and dimed to death even after delivering b2b championships. He wanted out. Saw his chance and took it. The good coaches are aggressive and ambitious, they want more. 3, Doesn’t mean Troy can’t be successful and I fully expect to win. Troy can and has overcome its challenges. HC Parkers job is to win, he can work harder than anyone, I don’t really care, judge him on whether or not he wins, plain and simple.

The only way to maintain and reach higher is to have all hands on deck and invested in Troy athletics. Blah blah. I’m not a speech writer, but you get the point.

I would agree for the most part. I wouldn't say that Jon wanted "out," just that he wanted more. Nothing wrong with that. I'm sure we would have paid him 5 million a year if we had it. He wasn't unhappy. Just ambitious. That's a good thing.

What a special group of young men... They're a great group of guys..... cue Jaws music. I did NOT hear that, I heard, "A gritty group that is ready to get on that bus and go to Birmingham and take care of business" You're confused. I wasn't talking about the press conference...and I wasn't totally serious but it was the first thing I thought when I heard the phrase. www.instagram.com/reel/C1A6QZgNj-I/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA%3D%3D

In no way, shape or form did our did coach Parker resemble Fester. I’m excited to get behind him and keep the train running ! I also think Dr. Hawkins did great and definitely embraced the David an Goliath attitude! I was also very pleased that he did not mention Fester!

That pretty good, no need to remind people of limited budget though, just cut to the get-off-your-a$$-and-support-the-program part. People are living in an alternative universe if they don't know Normal has a limited budget. But you can't keep harping on being poor all of the time. I'm sure Boise struggles and other teams that flirt with greatness. There is a time when you need to roll up your sleeves, kick the door open and act like you belong there.

You obviously do not live IN Troy. We've been involved with Troy Athletics here since 2004. Win or lose, locals also judge these Coaches and staffs on how they handle themselves in the Pike County community. Over the years, the involved staffs are usually the winners on the field!! This family should fit just fine.

His family and his personal life is just that personal, no need to judge him on whether or not he or his family fall into the right cliques and groups of the Troy community. He has a beautiful family he brought to the presser, I’m sure HC Parker and his family will conduct themselves appropriately. Maybe they are shy or an insular family unit ? They come in all kinds and that’s ok. No need to be passing judgement as you say and adding that pressure. Give them space and let them settle. But that’s up to you sir.

I am quite sure Cornhole not pass judgement on people but impressions are made. Many who are insular will interpreted as aloof. This guy is not. His wife is not by just watching a video from the past on her. However, people Judge, size up, expect all the time. Their lives will be enhanced if they do involve themselves in the community. Why do I know this? People who extend themselves to others and build relationships even if only for a little while often have better lives for it. There are many preachers families who are scrutinized way beyond what should be expected. Troy is not a large city. .Anonymity is not possible as a head football coach in Troy Alabama. They will fit in fine and they will be judged for that involvement. The right clique I say hogwash. A man of the people will be judged for being friendly and if they involve themselves with people of means in the community, well they need friends too. After all the dude will be making a lot of money for Troy Alabama.
But, there are people of means who are kind to anyone. I know some of them personally and I prefer their company over snooty folks any day. I have a lot of opportunity to hang out with cliques where I live and I still don’t because I prefer my wife and folks like her. There is not a snooty bone in her and I am better off for it.
