Interesting comments from Sumrall’s press conference at Tulane. Paraphrasing: will not hire any staff from Troy or take any player from Troy before Troy’s bowl game. (After Bowl?, coaches for sure, players we will see)
Quote Jon Sumrall: "I'm telling you right now...I'm speaking this into existence. We're gonna make the College Football Playoff and we're gonna win it. "We are going to sell out this stadium every time we play in it."
Quote Jon Sumrall: “If I’m at Tulane for a long time, I’ll be really happy.”
Very interesting on Why he choose Tulane: world class institution, vibrant city, etc. etc.
Watch it. I will admit it was weird watching it, as Troy supporter

Didn’t mean he didn’t care for the players and program. Both can be true at the same time.

I'm baffled by the seemingly educated posters here that can't understand 18M over 6 years. He's not a bad guy,let him enjoy his hard work and success. To take this move personally,is junior high......

Sort of like breaking up with a girlfriend that you should not have and then acting happy for her as she meets the new guy.

What CJS is saying, that was my expectation for next year. I knew with this staff and players, Troy University Football was going to be in the CFP next year.

Really don't give a crap about his Tulane press conference. I say put him in the not say his name group with his predecessor. He's dead to me now

Maybe just last month he was saying this team is heart, he loves Troy, he is here, commitment, etc. and now he is at another podium saying he is guaranteed to bring them to CFP. My previous statement about his situation stands. I would have left also, don’t blame him, yea he could have done it better but he didn’t want to be at Troy also. Maybe I wish it was indeed 100% about the money, that way it wouldn’t remind us of our issues and hurtles we must overcome. We move forward. But today it’s just weird.

Yea, I will not be surprised if Tulane does get into the CFP next year as the G5 representative. And yea, right now, have to admit, would be kinda disappointed knowing that could have been Troy…

No offense, won't watch this. He's not our coach anymore and so I am not going to listen how his goal is to lead another school to the CFP. I said I appreciate him and understand his decision but I won't be trading 0.01% of my hope for Troy making the CFP to see him take Tulane there instead.

Wrong. I'm so sick and tired of people on here telling me what I can and cannot feel. As I keep saying it's not THAT Jon Sumrall left Troy it's HOW Jon Sumrall left Troy that has made me angry. Remember when Neil Brown left? He at least had some class and grace about the process and while it was sad to watch him go we were happy for him and wished him all the best. Sumrall is just a Judas who bailed on his team the first chance he got without so much as a thank you or kiss my foot. So yes, there are some hard feelings.

I mean, I have no idea where they're actually going to live, but odds are it's not actually going to be in New Orleans. I would expect with the money he's getting they'll have a nice suburban house in a low crime neighborhood.
