I nominate this for the dumbest post of the year. Seems like everything he posts is nominated for that. Somebody has to be first, and somebody has to be down the line. At best, he gets a Certificate For Participation, eh? Keeps life on message boards interesting.

I get it. It’s so frustrating being on the cusp of awesomeness and not consistently get there. Making a regional in year 2 is a good step (if we indeed make it — I think we will), but this may be one of our weaker teams to have that accomplishment: 1. Only two solid starters with a complete lack of a third trusted arm. 2. Only two decent arms in the bullpen, and those get overextended so they’re not quite as effective as they can be 3. Some of the weakest fielding in program history. I’d like to say our RPI positioning is solely based on an 11-0 start, but you can’t look at those things in a vacuum. These boys have earned a regional spot, I think, and we should celebrate and enjoy it. We have enough stacked against us as a P5 school. But this team has a lot of holes to fix to reach that level of consistent regional appearances we all desire. That game was brutal to watch. Yea, Regional invite should be good. But with this team’s gross inconsistency, it would be a miracle if we got out of it. But I’m in country, so if it’s in the South I’ll be there cheering. Anyone know where they’re predicting we are going ? Latest predictions are the Auburn Regional but earlier predictions had us in Gainesville.

Season is over. SWLa swept Coastal. We couldn't sweep AppState. Would suck if Louisiana took a bid away from Troy by winning the tournament. It's possible. Our RPI dropped from 33 to 38 after losing to App State. That's exactly a confident spot to be in.

Here is one clue: The Sunbelt will not have 4 teams in the tournament. Oregon winning helped(keeping PAC12 at 4 teams), but Xavier beating UConn is one dagger (2 teams from the Bug East). If Northeastern doesn't sweep UNCW today, that's a crusher as well(two teams from the CAA). Bottom line: Lafayette has 40 wins. Between the two, that one passes the eye test. People can post projections all they want. This team got swept by GaState and a bad GaState too.
Maybe we can host a Baseball NIT in Troy. 8 teams, double-elimination. Would have a lot of big names showing up.

I certainly won’t celebrate anything until our name is called. We could be on the snub list for sure. Seeing our name away from the bubble in all projections helps my worry, but it also could be setting up for a bigger letdown.

I have two National Championship rings that tell me I have some clue. Maybe not absolute certainty, but enough to know that this team has a real chance of missing the tournament. But go ahead and keep thinking I have NO clue. FWIW: the 1987 team won 38 games all year. 38-10. We didn't get swept by anybody.

Not saying I'm not happy, more relieved but this team should be thankful there is a regional biased with the selection committee. I'm not so sure we can beat Nichols at this point. I actually think the other Sunbelt teams can make some noise, but our program, again at this point is nowhere near theirs. Win some games when they count and Ho will go away.

This team was picked 8th in the preseason. They have played well at times and had some bad games. Anyone complaining is just looking for something to complain about.

You mean Old Wet Rag. I see you are new to this board - either a student or parent. Color me anything you want, but being a product of the 80's has tainted my view of Normal School athletics. I expect our teams to excel at the highest level. Flat-out dominate; i.e. the end of '22 football, many of LB's teams won before the game was even played; many people forget, we went to four straight NCAA World Series and a lot of DM's teams went into road games with WWE attitude. Opposing teams absolutely hated Troy - in all sports. Everybody circled the game with Troy. I saw it with my own two eyes. Jax State watering their football field all week and even on Saturday during a storm turning the field into swamp - we stomped them anyway. Don's teams were regularly pelted with debris on the court and in the parking lot after big wins on the road - they loved it by the way. 6,000 people showed up for every one of our CWS games at Paterson Field - did 600 even show up for Troy games this week in Montgomery? If you are satisfied with just getting in - one of the Last 4 selected, then call me a Wet Rag all day and night. There are a few teams today looking at us and wondering how did Normal School get in. An obvious regional bias helped. Arizona probably was 64th and we were probably 63rd. Sure, I'd rather be 63rd than 65th. But that's not where I want to be. Play ball and see what happens. Thank you and good night!

The D1 teams didn't invent tradition, they took the tradition earned by those before them and carried it on. That's how it's relevant. No reason on the planet Troy can't dominate the Sun Belt like it did the GSC, Atlantic Sun and early Sun Belt. Those players in all sports set the bar

Baseball tradition really took off in the 80's and 6,000 people in 1987 = 6,000 people in 2023. Would love to see that again - now it seems like just family and friends. I know there is '68, but those football teams in the 80's were almost unstoppable. LB's teams had massive swagger throughout the 90's and early 2000's- people literally hated Troy back in the day. We started to see that back last fall. Even Neal's team didn't reach that level. Oh well, young people will never get it. I guess just getting in is satisfactory - and being happy we were picked 8th in the conference and made the tournament seems logical, but is a troubling sign as well. 8th? WTF is that? sting tell Ho to shut up now so he just watch what happens. Ho like every Sunbelt teams chance in the Regions - even ours. Any team could win in Tuscaloosa - even Nichols. Ho could see Lafayette and Southern really giving Texas, Miami and Barn fits. Hopefully we all go to Omaha and another Sunbelt team wins it all - again.

I just can’t believe some of these people on here have the audacity to thrash this program after the things they have accomplished. Conference POY, 3 all conference 1st- teamers and a 2nd-teamer. This team is in a regional for the first time in 5 years. Support them and hopefully they can compete in Tuscaloosa!
