Were any of you REALLY surprised? Did you not know that the disrespect of all things TROY would continue with this award? I am a TROJAN through and through, and I will be until I die, but I’ve come to realize that the only fulfillment I receive from this is that which comes from within. Nobody is going to validate anything done at TROY University - EVER. I’m done hoping for such. Be proud to be aTROJAN, but don’t ever again expect the college sports world to validate that in any way. Just keep winning baby win! It will happen.

This award should cease its existence. It had the PERFECT person to award and it choose to maybe get its name said a time or two on ESPN instead. Shame on you, Burlsworth committee. You've become what you initially despised.

Listening to sports talk in ATL this morning. They said Stetson’s name and I was expecting the sentence to finish with Burlsworth Trophy winner. Nope. Mentioned him as a finalist for the Heisman. No mention of Burlsworth. Karma?

No mention of Burlsworth. Karma? The common fan doesn’t give much credit to the Burlsworth. It is still new and as I watched for the first time last night, It felt like an avenue for the family to cash in on a name. So if it’s to make money, you pick the big name.

maybe there are alternative reasons someone would try to have an award named after Brandon Burlsworth. However, it is not disputable the young man who died tragically was indeed a religious person first and everything else second. Having an award named after him and what he had accomplished is about as pure as one could imagine. So, perhaps I am naive but I believe that their motives are at least pure in what they say they are doing. I liked the presentation. I believe that Brandon himself was more like Carlton than Stetson but that is not how it played out according to the committee who selected him.

The Burlsworth family does not pick the winner, there is a selection committee that does. The amount of charity work that they do for youth in the Arkansas area is overwhelming. I’d encourage you to look into Burls Kids and what they do there in addition to a foundation to provide eye care for those who can’t afford it.

Certainly your right, but if you ever run into Carlton ask him his thoughts on Marty and Vicky Burlsworth and you’ll see what it’s really about.
