Now that I think about the first half… I thought Gunnar checked down too often but I’m not so sure those weren’t designed plays to get the running back in the flat in space almost as an extended run play. Especially with the game plan being to keep the clock running and ball in our hands.

But as was said… I’m not a coach just love to talk football and discuss thoughts. And that’s what a message board is for.
I’m so happy football is back and that we have a real group of coaches that know way more than me.

But as was said… I’m not a coach just love to talk football and discuss thoughts. And that’s what a message board is for. I’m so happy football is back and that we have a real group of coaches that know way more than me. BRAVO!!!!! That is it. A group of coaches that knows more than I do. I could not succinctly truly figure out how to put it. I have not played college ball for 40 years or been involved in coaching football for nearly as many. Yet, by some incredible innate wisdom I have sat in the stands and called our office plays correctly about 40% of the time. The exact play! Wow, all that time it was donning on me how dumb our coaching staff in the past three years because about 50% of the time I had the type of play right. I thought I was a defensive guru the first year and then the second I thought I was smart and the third year I finally convinced myself I was not smart at all and other teams were not that smart either. They just needed a rudimentary idea of the game and dipweed spoon fed them. Only 10% of the time OR LESS was I wrong at all. So, why would a D coordinator even have to work the week they played us. I can paraphrase what I agreed with from above when I said I agreed that we just needed a coaching staff smarter than I was or am. We needed a coach not as dumb as I am or as predictable. I am not saying Sumrall is a saint but he sure as heck is smarter in the football world than I am. Even if our O was not setting the world on fire this last Saturday there were some schemes I could see. So, thank u coaches for being smarter in this time of football than a semi old guy (and I might add) smarter than a bedpan full of bedpan stuff who now resides in Orlando Florida (at least for this year!)

Did anyone notice Doege had as many tackles as completions?

I really want to see Doege and Costelli in action... especially Costelli and his running ability.

He was a major part of a non existent offense for the last 2 seasons and I also look at what coach said about his laziness when he arrived. Obviously, he's turned that around and has put in the work to start, but I'd like to see what the other guys have to offer in a real game environment.

I haven’t seen anything like that. I heard Watson was out of shape when HCJS arrived on campus. I mean it was November/December and we had no bowl game, so I don’t hold that against him.
