Okay, all you âFire (The HC we don’t speak of)â people. Convince me. Who could we get, realistically, to step in and turn things around. Games like today remind me of the last few years under CLB. I donât want to go through that again. JMU HC Curt Cignetti?

Tough game today. Defense kept the Trojans in the game. Call in the end was a heartbreaker. I don’t think there was evidence to overturn. Still a great day to be a Trojan.

I'll go against the grain here and say I was impressed that the team absolutely would not quit. The defense had some flashes I had not seen before from this group. Had Watson not been hurt we win this game by two touchdowns. Next man up, I know, but we certainly were in position to win this game. Last year's team would have folded like a cheap suit and lost by 3 touchdowns. Jacob Free, had some moments, but it's clear why he is the #2 guy. Hope to get him back this week, we'll need him.

Iâm not a (The HC we don’t speak of) apologist in any form or fashion. But Iâm not sure we can hang all this on him this week. Our starting QB goes down early and we still fight and claw all day long. I donât care who is calling the plays - 4 turnovers will kill any offense/team. I more upset with the inconsistency more than anything else - last weeks game (A win) is more concerning to me than this weeks game. He needs to get some more experience on his staff. If he doesnât I donât think he will be a long term success for us (or here for very long). If we get blown out by Ark State next week I think we are looking at a 6-6 season at best - and we have too much talent to be a 6-6 team. I hope we run the table and he ends up being a great success for us - we will see. But regardless - Go Trojans! Lots of mistakes tonight - but lots of fight in this team.

Actually, I am not so sure. It was Free's first real game and he made things happen. So many what-ifs... we missed another FG, in the end this cost us the game.

This team did not quit and while a couple of gifts we did not score three times where we may have been able. Losing Gunnar hurt even as well as Jacob did perform at times. The real difference was the loss of our number one quarterback. Yes kicking again hurt We are a pretty average team at the moment but as said last years team would have folded. Get Jacob time with the ones and we have a good chance next two games. This conference is improving and we will see over next few weeks if we are headed in that direction or stagnating. That will probably induce much more ire on this board as it should. I see a team that is going to win 7 and the entire D will be back.
As odd as 2020 has been it is just nice to watch an in stadium game and know that the players are giving it their best shot. That I totally believe and that makes me proud to watch them even if at times frustrated with the outcome

Not a SEC coordinator with 7 jobs in 8 years. Not qualified Chris Petersen then. Let's call DWare, Osi, and Kidd Rock and make it happen, $$.

Agree with the statements that the TEAM did not quit and want to play for their coach or coaches Unfortunately, it's the little things that kill us. The penalties, not getting points in the red zone, leaving time on the clock with timeouts at the end of the first half, etc. I thought Free played well considering he is a backup and does not get as many reps.
What I see is an average team with less than average coaching. I don't expect things to get better but I hope they do. See you in a few weeks at The Vet.

If if if if playing a team just slightly better or just slightly worse or in other words even close to equal or the same level if ONE of the teams looses their starting QB early in the game definitely gives team B a better chance to win. Team A had all things we talked about (and yes not taking a time out with 50 some secs left in half when they were 4th and long about to punt WAS A COACHING ERROR! Jacob had some success in the first half and would have less pressure at that point of the game then the final seconds. Good opportunity for back up to PRACTICE the two minute offense .....bad bad bad) Anyhoo Team A lost QB and team B probably not as good as we are wins the game. We have a good shot at next two weeks . We really really really do

Offense = 447 yds = 3 TDs; 3/10 on 3rd down = not good ST = in various phases (missed FG; questionable returns) = not good Defense = gave up 379 yds; constantly out of position (can someone pls set an edge?); constantly losing battle for the ball; too many busts; 8/19 and 3rd down & 2/2 on 4th = not good Coaching = time/clock management + players out of position or not prepared = not good Players = lots and lots and lots of effort + never quit + true TROJAN spirit = great to see
This game is like most this season and last. Anyone saying it was all defense last year might want to reconsider. Anyone saying the defense isn’t the issue this year might wish to as well. All three phases need improvement. These same trends hold true for both seasons.
I show up every week. I cheer. I will continue. I hope corrections are made. I hope we prevail. And don’t give a doggone abt who chose who (or didn’t) for HC. The current dude is the dude until he’s not. All I care about is giving the young men a chance; them giving great effort; and them executing. They haven’t quit; we shouldn’t either - EVER - EVEN if they do. But they haven’t; let’s keep showing up and supporting.
I was on some losing season teams at Troy and some amazing ones. Fans showed us love in both. Let’s keep showing love. GO TROJANS!

New to this board, but been around a long time.
This Troy team will go as its Defensive front 7 go.
If they get pressure on opposing QB and control line of scrimmage, they take the pressure off the weak secondary. By keeping the opposing offenses off the field, they can also take some of the pressure off their own Offense to keep them from needing to outscore the opponent.
If, however, the opponent has fast receivers (faster than Ga.St. yesterday), or the ability to control the Line of Scrimmage (Ga.St. did not), the front 7 will not be able to apply enough pressure, and ultimately, they will be on the field longer, thereby not giving the Troy offense opportunities to score.
Play calling after Watson went out was the same and like nothing had happened, which was good. And, Free was doing well until he looked a pass into the receiver at the goal line, and got intercepted. After that, the coaches tightened up, and didn't let Free throw like he seems capable of doing. Free is not a great QB, but he has the ability to throw well vertically downfield. Loosening up the opposing secondary downfield and then using draw plays and screens is probably the best approach for his skills. Throwing the outs and fades are not his forte.
Most likely remaining wins are MTSU and ULM....maybe Ga. Southern (not a big threat to Troy's secondary) and USA (don't know which team will show). Other than that, not likely to beat Ark. St, App St. or Coastal. Still, Troy has the potential to have 6 or 7 wins, but could also end up winning only 5 games.
There will need to be some serious discussions at the end of the season between Brent and (The HC we don’t speak of), with some coaching staff changes needed to improve. Whether they happen or not, will determine if (The HC we don’t speak of) is replaced after 2021. He was adamant at the end of last season, saying that he has the right staff in place. I disagree.

Wow our 1st loss under (The HC we don’t speak of) where we did not give up 500 to 600 yards in offense! To many penalties and to many mistakes on on all 3 phases of football! We have to much talent on this team to not be getting better results! Start instilling more discipline by having our players look better during the Trojan Walk and when we travel, also on the sidelines!

Iâve just looked at our QB options. How can we have a JUCO 2 time All American on the sidelines when we have to depend on our defense to put points on the board. Come on (The HC we don’t speak of)! Iâd love to hear (The HC we don’t speak of)âs response to this question. Outside of the TxSt game, QB play has been inconsistent and lackluster at best. As the QBâs coach, that falls directly on him. I was thrilled to see Free take several shots down the field, (which GW hasnât really done all year), but there was also Several plays where he looked confused and threw the ball into double and triple coverage, including the deep ball to Reggie Todd that he came down with. I feel this team is FAR more talented than the one we saw last year, but the offense turned the ball over more times than they got into the end zone.i donât want to be pessimistic, but If the QB play doesnât improve drastically, this team is at best 6-6.

What happened to the running game? I've been wondering the same thing.
It seems like whenever Troy is behind, the playcalling becomes 80% pass and 20% run.

Name one Juco QB we have signed since Omar that mounted to anything yet alone started? The closest one was Deon Anthony and HE should have been the starter and wasn't. We either aren't signing the right ones or something???
