If you aren’t buying tickets or donating money do you think anyone cares how much you anonymously cry on a message board? We can't all be winners like you. Finally, something logical from you.

The thing about Sumrall is he hasn't even been a coordinator yet. I know he is well liked because he probably shook your hand and remembers your name, but I think he is ready to be a DC somewhere and not a HC. I believe in the progression from position coach to coordinator to head coach. DABO SWINNEY!

I will take what I know versus what you think you know any day. However, since you won’t be coming to the games next year it really won’t matter to you. By the way your progression idea has made for a banner year for Troy football. The qualities required to be a good and successful head coach have little to do with what positions they’ve held in the past. It appears as though the interview and search process for head coach wasn’t handled properly. So if you don't attend the games, you don't matter. Good to know. I'm confused why the games are televised.
As for my progression idea... yeah not everything works out. Even P5 schools hire a dud from time to time. What you are looking to do though, is take a guy that has 12 years position coaching experience at mediocre football schools (with the exception being when he was at Troy) and vault him to be the head coach of a FBS program. That is a huge risk. By hiring someone who has gone through the progression, you mitigate the risk. Sumrall could well be a HC someday but I don't think Troy should take the risk right now.
Lot more upside potential than downside risk at this time. I believe I read that Sumrall was ASST Head Coach and Co-OC at FCS level prior to his Tulane gig. Water over the dam now. It is what it is and we're at where we're at. Read the CBS First Year Coach Ratings.

For every Dabo there are 5 Gerry Faust type examples. Gerry Faust was a high school coach put directly into one of the top jobs in the country at the time. Apples and oranges.

That is a big difference. Side not I didn't realize VK was the DC at Clemson at the time.

I believe in the progression from position coach to coordinator to head coach. He was DC and Co-DC at San Diego in FCS but he hasn't been a DC at the FBS level even though he should be qualified. Is it because he doesn't want to be a DC or just hasn't been given the opportunity. He would have been my second choice for a position coach to hire as HC and around my 5th choice overall.

For every Dabo there are 5 Gerry Faust type examples. Faust was an over rated HS coach who recruited the best players in Ohio to a Catholic school. He was no more qualified to coach ND than any of us
