Looks like Arkansas State's QB1 is out for the year, announced today. I don't think it matters either way, our secondary is going to get tested. It's sort of a wash because we don't have film on the second string guy. Hopefully we get Tyus and Nixon back so we'll have some depth back there. We'll see how it plays out. Apparently it will be Layne Hatcher, who is a transfer from Alabama. His high school highlight films are impressive. He's a dual-threat guy. He's only played one time this year when Ark State played Georgia. He went 3/5 for 53 yards and 1 INT, and had -1 rush yards.
It's possible he could come in and not be able to find any rhythm since he hasn't really had live game experience in 2 years (except for the few snaps he had against Georgia), sort of like Nebraska's QB when Troy played them last year. He was their backup, he only had 1 week to prepare, and he didn't do that great....
OR....
We could see a "Sawyer Smith scenario" where Hatcher comes in and plays very well and wins a lot of games for Ark State.
Personally, I think it'd be silly to think Blake Anderson doesn't have a capable replacement at QB.

IIRC, Liberty was Sawyer Smith's first start...
