Bingo. He earned his degree, stayed out of trouble and led us to victories and a bowl win. The purpose of every player is do what you are suppose to do, contribute and earn your degree. He did all of that. I had scapula reattachment surgery in Lexington on June 5 and I have made five trips there since April. I love Troy but there is no comparison in Troy, AL and Lexington. Lexington is a beautiful city and I'm sorry, a masters degree from UK will open more doors for him. A lot of money in Lexington with a great alumni base. I for one will root for him over the swamp lizards I'm not trying to brag, but I have a Master's from Troy and I make good money. I'll put my Troy MBA up against a Kentucky MBA any day. Not bad mouthing my alma mater, I'm stating facts. UK has more alumni connections with money. I didn't realize Lexington was that nice until I spent some time there. A lot of money there I never realized

Not trying to compare schools specifically. But I have to work with graduates from top universities such as Stanford, Penn, Carnegie Mellon, Brown, Lehigh, etc almost everyday and I have to admit these colleagues are at a total different level. I always wonder, do they really receive a much better education at these schools or are these just supersmart people...and I can see the difference between them and others when working with colleagues who graduated from schools like Colorado, TX A&M, etc.

All I will say about Sawyer Smith is he is now a Southeastern Conference starting QB who was probably going to be 3rd string QB at TROY.
Let that sink in.
Kaleb Barker is a much better QB but good for Sawyer.

Yes! For absolutely no reason. He graduated and moved on. Bingo. He earned his degree, stayed out of trouble and led us to victories and a bowl win. ok, so. we can cuss/discuss the D Ware's, Jerrels, Turks, Meadows, Levis, Coreys, DuJauns, etc etc. But a grad/alum student athlete who opted to play his Graduate year elsewhere is off limits??

For what it's worth, I'm watching Finebaum right now. He is in Lexington this weekend for the UK/UF game. The UK callers are very confident that they will once again beat UF and multiple callers are basing that on Sawyer Smith and what they've learned about him over the past few weeks. I, like others on this board, recognize that Sawyer chose to leave and I even commented that it seemed he'd done so because he had lost the competition for the starting QB job and maybe even the back up QB job. That said, I wish him no ill will, and I think it's a positive thing that he is getting these accolades from the UK fans. Just think it through. If Sawyer is able to play QB at an SEC school (UK or not) AND he lost the competition for the starting spot and perhaps the backup spot at TROY, what does that say about Caleb and Gunnar. I think this is the best way to process Sawyer's departure and his future at UK. I wish him all the success in the world, because if our #2/3 QB can start and effectively compete in the SEC, we are in GREAT shape.

I wish him luck. I wish Kentucky luck. But as I told some "more than confident" Kentucky fans, he crumpled against Liberty and did well against others. Don't expect him to be a game changer in big games.

Don't expect him to be a game changer in big games. we'll see tomorrow. Liberty was the kids first college start ever. The total Troy offense timing was off. Predictable and forgiveable for a first time starter. At least 50% of that was on coaches. New QB, a known factor.

He was 31-44 for 320 yards and 4 touchdowns in the DG Bowl and was named MVP of that game.

Much like Gardner Minchew (sp?), if Sawyer is successful, we’ll get some positive press through this transfer. He’s gone and good luck to a fellow Trojan alum - as with all fellow Trojan alum .
I am not worried about Cats and Gators as much as I am about Trojans and Golden Eagles. TR - woo woo OJ - woo woo - aaaaaaaNS - wooooo (Ric Flair style)!!!!

Sawyer punches Dr. Hawkins in the throat: "Well, I never really liked Hawkins, good luck to Sawyer!"
Sawyer sets fire to the library: "That ol' library was outdated anyway. I'm glad he did it! Best of luck to Sawyer!"
Sawyer shoots your dog: "That dog only had 10 more years to go, tops. Sawyer saved me the trouble. Good luck to him!"
Sawyer kicks you below the belt: "Hell, I had my kids anyway. And I deserve it for ever doubting that pass he threw in the Liberty game. God bless that young man!"
Sawyer throws your grandma off the roof: "Sawyer needs to stay in shape! The SEC, and Kentucky by default, is far and away better than anything Troy has ever or will ever do, and Sawyer needs his workouts. Hats off to him!"

Sawyer won a bowl game for us and I will always remember his big run vs Nebraska (similar to Jamie Hamptons run vs Arkansas). Also he played with a broken rib in the bowl game, risking his health and career. He did more for Troy than most of us. He graduated and basically fulfilled his “contract”, unlike other players/starters who just transfer to other schools before graduating...

My previous post was more about the apologists for Sawyer than Sawyer himself. If were about Sawyer I wouldn't have provided the absurd scenarios. But to your point, in a year from now ask Sawyer what the best memory of his college football career will be, dollars to dog biscuits Troy won't be involved.

Not mad, just confused why people come to a Troy message board to swoon over KY Univ. and a former Troy player who crapped all over us when he left. So I'm just using absurdity to call out absurdity.
