Sawyer is about to be the starter for Kentucky. Terry Wilson was horse collared and it doesn’t look good for his knee.

Oh the guy that said he’d get a better education elsewhere? Oh ya... screw that guy.

He is a Troy grad after all, if he succeeds it will reflect on us positively, so I am definitely rooting for him.

He’s a great kid. Any issues he had at Troy were beyond his control. I wish him nothing but the best.

Frankly he is better than Franks for UF. Now new place who knows. As we have discussed his little parting comment about education is something a few years down the road he might not have said but that is youth. I too wish him the best. It is likely this will help us too in the development of Gunnar.

Since I was in on this topic the first time it came up I'm going to comment now because it seems like a cop-out to let other people carry on the case without me.
I'm indifferent to Sawyer Smith now. He transferred out of Troy and bad mouthed us on the way out because he was pissy that he wasn't guaranteed to be the starter. Even if he hadn't said what he said I would still be indifferent, the transfer alone would have been enough. I don't follow Tron Folsom or any other transfers. I don't sit around watching everything Neal Brown does. I appreciate everything he did for Troy, but now it's time to look to the future. It's not fair to (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) or our current loyal players to be so caught up in our past. When you're dating someone do you constantly roam social media looking up your ex? That's what it's like to me.
Neal Brown, Sawyer Smith, and Tron Folsom are moving on with their lives. Let's move on with ours.

Sawyer got his degree, made some stupid comment BUT transferred and AGREED to be a backup. Apparently he wasnât very pissy. I bet not many of us have never made a stupid comment. Iâll be at the game this coming weekend and look forward to seeing him play. Any free press for my University when my University is not directly involved is a positive in my opinion.

And although I know what you mean to a degree, I'm still fully capable of being a fan of others and still be a primary TROY fan. I'm a Nashville Predators fan but love the NHL so much that it'd be quicker to tell you the teams I don't like. I'm capable of despising the entire NFL league and all their show-boat-cry-babies very equally. I follow WVU and Neal Brown closely now. He's got the makings of a legendary coach and is an incredible man of character. And I once was in a band of guys, all of whom were from Hurricane, WV, were WVU fans and so there's a connection. I don't think it's disrespectful at all toward (The HC we don’t speak of) or my fav TROY for me to also be a GA Bulldogs fan, or to follow other teams. I'll bet all those guys follow and watch the games and teams in the same way. Of course, all that stops when they are playing the Trojans.

If your daughter goes to Kentucky and so you want to watch their football team, fine. But you're using a special situation to apply to a general discussion. I've said stupid things before, but there was some kind of consequence every time, there's always a consequence. I didn't say I hope Sawyer breaks his arm, I said I'm indifferent. I'm sure he cries himself to sleep because I'm not watching him on TV. I'm not trying to tell anyone else what to do, I'm just stating my opinions on the topic.

Since we already have a Sawyer thread: CBS Sports: Everything you need to know about new starter Sawyer Smithwww.wymt.com/content/sports/CBS-Sports--559785101.html- - - - Courier-journal.com: - - - - If he somehow makes it to the NFL, Troy will benefit from this. We have Barker and Smith starting right now, both with strong Troy ties (Barker still with us here, and Smith being a Troy grad which makes him a Trojan) and maybe some pro potential. I will follow both Sawyer at Kentucky and Brown at WVU as much as Chunn, Willis, etc in the NFL...at least for a while.

Let's move on with ours. I don't view it as a break up with a girlfriend. More like high school friends parting ways to go on to bigger life endeavors. You keep up closely for awhile, then drift apart as your paths further diverge. Staying in touch with old friends, some of whom you may have had minor spats with, doesn't mean you can't make new friends that you become even closer to. That's a much better analogy for me. I like college football in general. I watch any game that catches my attention. I follow coaches that catch my interest, and I want to know where my Troy boys are and how they're doing as players. Doesn't mean I'm not fully behind the current Troy program and current players. (Admittedly not totally behind (The HC we don’t speak of) yet - he needs to prove himself.)

UK is my "other" team it's full of Troy peeps, Jon Sumrall, John Schlarman, Mark Perry, Josh Pruitt and Sawyer Smith. Sawyer is a Troy grad, an actual alumni of our institution and I hope he does well. Watched every play Saturday night and I'll watch as many others as I can. I see no reason to be bitter towards him.

This post turned bitter rather quickly. Yes! For absolutely no reason. He graduated and moved on. Bingo. He earned his degree, stayed out of trouble and led us to victories and a bowl win. The purpose of every player is do what you are suppose to do, contribute and earn your degree. He did all of that. I had scapula reattachment surgery in Lexington on June 5 and I have made five trips there since April. I love Troy but there is no comparison in Troy, AL and Lexington. Lexington is a beautiful city and I'm sorry, a masters degree from UK will open more doors for him. A lot of money in Lexington with a great alumni base. I for one will root for him over the swamp lizards
