It would seem hard for CUSA to expand given their current size and weak TV contract. If the AAC has a better TV payout perhaps they could pull in a CUSA defector but I don’t see what a UAB, FAU or FIU would bring to their conf.
So UConn is headed to the Big east leaving a spot open in the AAC. Will they grab from CUSA or SBC... or will CUSA and SBC start grabbing people from the AAC?
Underdog Dynasty has a long article on this. At the end of it they offer four suggestions; Army, Appalachian State, Marshall, and Middle Tennessee.
You would think that the AAC will go on the offensive to protect their conference and will move quickly. Based on this, the front runner might be Marshall. IF they choose to go look at C-USA to balance their Divisions, then I think SBC should try to help C-USA balance their Divisions by extending an invitation to a C-USA West Division team THAT in turn could be the start of additional teams wanting to leave C-USA.
