I know we don’t really want to do these 2-for-1 deals anymore. However, we are not really in a position to host good P5 teams otherwise. Memphis just scheduled a 2-for-1 vs Arkansas. I think it’s a good deal for Memphis. Even though we managed to schedule a home-and-home with Miss St, I still think we should consider 2-for-1 vs certain teams (Arkansas, Kentucky, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Louisville, etc) fbschedules.com/arkansas-memphis-schedule-three-game-football-series/“We are all aware that our fans have asked for more of these types of games on our football schedule,” Memphis Interim Athletics Director Allie Prescott said” MEMPHIS 2025 09/06 - at Georgia State 09/13 - at Troy 09/20 - Arkansas

Ehh. They just bring their refs and we get the long shaft of the $EC or ACC. I like the home for home vs. the Southern Miss, UCF, So. FL., Memphis, Tulane, La Tech of the world.

I'd take a 2-for-1 deal any day, especially if we're talking about teams like Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, NC State, North Carolina, Miami, Virginia Tech, or TCU... those are usually the schools that schedule those types of deals.
I'd do a 6-for-1 with Auburn or Alabama...

I'd do a 6-for-1 with Auburn or Alabama... 20 years ago I'd have agreed with your regarding AU/UA...heck I'd have agreed with you 10 years ago. With the most recent expansion, the capacity at the Vet is 30,400. On September 1 last year, we had an official attendance of 29,612 to see us play Boise State. That's less than 800 below capacity. What do we gain if we play AU/UA at the Vet...800 more folks (plus whatever is sold as standing room only)? We, in the last 3 seasons, have scared the pants off of the eventual national champion Clemson squad, we've beaten LSU, and we've beaten Nebraska all while winning 3 bowl games against top G5 schools. We are a legitimate program and having AU/UA come to TROY will do nothing to increase that legitimacy and I don't see any way it would benefit us. Let's continue to schedule home and home games with the likes of Boise, Southern Miss, La Tech, and other top G5 schools. Let's win those games. That will do more to grow our program that having AU/UA come to TROY multiple times.

Bubba... I'm hearing season ticket sales are up this season. If we can continue turning in 10+ win seasons, 30,400 may have to be upgraded. I wish we would put a home game win clause in our contracts. If we did that, we would see LSU and Nebraska rolling in to Troy. I agree with you about The Vet not being able to handle a AU/UA game. I would think our first meeting with either of those schools would be at their place or neutral. Either way, they have been ducking a whooping for a long time.

(Both are still needed and wanted.)

Reading comments DT would say on occasion is fine. But, we don't need to be doing 2-1's with Vandy and Kentucky simply because they are $EC. Only the big boys. Barn, Bama, GA, FL, LSU....Sure.
If we want to be big time we need to act like it and not like the chubby desperate Chi O at the DB on a Wednesday night.
