This is fantastic! Next DT wants to rekindle not so friendly combat with the MUTS. Their fans will wave their "Just another directional school Blue" pom pom's in your face. I seriously hate those guys. Not as much as UA's B Squad with their empty hood bowl at 5% capacity full of fans wearing "We have a school of medicine Green" and "Freshly reinstated football program Gold". Not that much but I do hate those guys. I was told that MUTS wants nothing to do with us and refuses to play.

I don’t think it was exactly an exciting rivalry, we dominated them most years...

I want a home and home with UCF and/or USF. Other than the giant egos both schools have there is no reason this couldn't work. Bright House seats 45,000 and Raymond James 56,000 and neither school sells out on a regular basis. We could draw 30,000 to the Vet and either FL school draws the same or more. Plenty of Troy Alumni within an easy 1-2 hour drive who would show up.

I want to play Florence State (UNA) Or Samford for one of our cupcake games. That other school in Northeast Alabama would draw well too, but we would have to bleach everything they touched after the game.

UCF would be nice, so would be Army, ECU and Marshall + money games at Fla State and Texas A&M (really want to play and beat the Aggies!!) and maybe Iowa, Pittsburgh, Purdue and Louisville (they all recruit in AL and maybe would be open to come to our place). More importantly home-for-home deals (or even 2-for-1s) with beatable teams like Kentucky, Georgia Tech and of course, WVU.

I lost part of my eye sight looking at those awful purple and yellow uniforms in the 80's. There official colors were once called pomegranate and puce? More like purple and puke

Perspective. There are other Sun Belt schools that would love to have our attendance problems.

This should be an exciting regional series. Hopefully, we will be in a conference together one day. I like playing teams that are the same as us culturally.

This should be an exciting regional series. Hopefully, we will be in a conference together one day. I like playing teams that are the same as us culturally. Many similarities between both programs. However, Troy is not quite there yet. Of course, USM has some amazing FBS history with many wins over P5 teams, ranked seasons, Brett Favre, etc. Troy is just getting there step by step. USM could have been a lite version of Clemson or Florida State, basically Boise State of the south. I am wondering what’s holding you guys back. I know that Troy (and somewhat USA and UAB) hurt USM in recruiting, you didn’t have to worry about these programs in the past. Half of our players on the roster held USM offers at one point. Anyways, you can see what tradition and historic success will do for you, and I hope we will be in a similar situation in max. 10 years from now: Occasionally, USM still lands highly recruited in-state prospects over Miss St and other programs. When scheduling money games, USM’s payout is 1.8M/1.9M (Auburn) while we are getting roughly (1.5M). A few years ago, Fla St insisted on playing USM in a bowl game. I study programs like USM, Marshall, ECU, etc closely and use them as benchmarks. Currently, we are probably still 5 years behind (even though we now have the facilities, recruiting classes and recent success), however we still need a UCF/NIU/WMU-type breakout season, that’s all what’s missing now...
