Have heard this LSU assistant coach’s name is currently being circulated as a potential candidate for our head coaching vacancy. In addition to his 2 years at LSU, Heiar has also coached at Witchita State under Greg Marshall, Southern Miss, and was the Head Coach at Chipola JC for 5 years where he won five panhandle conference championships.

Might as well add his name to the staff page on troytrojans.com. If he's from USM, then he's the one.

Don’t care where he is from or where he coached. He just needs to win, win a lot.

Just a note, he was not at USM the same time as McClain

Troy needs someone that can recruit. We have some of the worst recruiting classes every year in the Sun Belt, with the only team have worse classes being ULM. Cunningham has found a few good diamonds in the rough, but a lot of these players just aren't that good compared to what other Sun Belt teams are fielding.
We need to continue to recruit Alabama, but also move into recruiting the Atlanta area, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Florida. Cunningham rarely looked into those talent-rich states, primarily because he thought Troy didn't have a chance to land some of those guys, so he stayed somewhat local... I know this because he actually told me that during a conversation about recruiting, specifically when I asked if Troy was going to go after a certain grad transfer that was available from Kansas a couple of years back.

Didn't Troy just fire a "recruiting coach"? Cunningham is an outstanding case of why one should always hire an X and O coach over a "recruiter". A strategic coach can adjust to the talent he has at any given time. WINNING will bring the recruits to you!

Let me get this straight. We could look at Wade and get him temporarily while the courts decide his fate or go for an assistant of his at LSU. I actually knew Coach Heiar when he was at Chipola. He can coach and had tremendous talent while there (Chipola was JUCO team of the decade of 2000-2010). Just interested on how far the search will go.

Be careful. Some people don't like it if you venture off 231
