With the new format I believe we still have a chance. I hate losing, so here is to us making a run.....
(and yes CPC’s fate should already be sealed)

Thank God, this nightmare is nearly over. Who's the Assistant at Southern Ole Miss?

A couple of thoughts about a season that is coming to an end on Saturday afternoon against Coastal Carolina:
1. Coach Cunningham still has at least a year left on the contract (maybe even 2). After the MBB team won the Sun Belt tournament in 2017, he received a new contract. I understand contracts can be broken, but they will have to pay extra to remove CPC.
2. It cannot be understated how much it hurt losing Jordon Varnado. He averaged over 30 points per game during the month of January. He was well on his way to becoming the Sun Belt player of the year. He broke a team violation and was suspended indefinitely. That is not the coaching staff or the team's fault, yet they received a huge part of the punishment because of how much his loss hurt the team.
3. This is the same coaching staff that put together a plan to beat Georgia State, WKU & UAB on the road, and hung with FSU in Tallahassee for 3/4 of the game. Notice they had JV for all of those games. Again, his loss cannot be understated.
4. This team will lose seniors, BJ Miller and Alex Hicks (and of course JV). They do return some excellent young talent that will be battle tested next year. Also, I'm hearing good things about recruiting as well.
From someone who follows the basketball program (both MBB and WMM) very closely, I would say allow CPC to fulfill his contract. I understand many to most of you would not agree with that assessment, and that's ok. We are all entitled to our opinion.
I will say this, definitely follow the WBB team in the Sun Belt tournament. They definitely have the talent to win it all in NOLA next week.
Go Trojans!!

His career at Troy has been a failure. Fact. “Letting” him fulfill his contract makes zero (0) sense. That is zero.

I'm saying letting him fulfill his contract because I believe he will turn the ship around. I guess you could say I am being overly optimistic. If you bring in a new coach, I personally believe you will implode the team (with the young talent) and this year's recruiting will go down the toilet. Just my thoughts. So, I don't believe it's makes zero sense. It's makes total sense if you have an optimistic view of what could happen. You may also say in response, what do I have to base any optimism upon and that would be a very fair assessment. However, I would answer the following:
1) This coaching staff is two years removed from winning the Sun Belt tournament. That hasn't happened around here in a LOOOOONG time.
2) They have good young talent on the team. Not sure if you have watched or attended any games, I think some people on this board simply get their Troy basketball news from their ESPN app, but the cupboard is not bare for this team.
3) Once again, they ended the season poorly but that is primarily because the team was very dependent upon JV for leadership and scoring. Not to mention, the offense went through him even as a decoy at times. All of that went out the window because of HIS MISTAKE. It's unfair to put the blame fully on the team and coaching staff for JV's mistakes.
Again, we are all entitled to our opinions. I have absolutely no say in making those decisions (and I'm sure you guys are happy I don't!! LOL) , but if I did, I would say this coaching staff has proven they can get the job down in the past, let's allow them to recruit, make necessary corrections, and develop the young talent they currently have.
Go Trojans!!

Here's one I bet we will all agree on: I fully believe we should retain Coach Chanda Rigby to coach the WBB for the 2019-2020 season. Go Trojans!!

You had to bring out the records and show evidence, didn't you? Haha!
I do think our MBB program needs to get back to having the kind of success that they had during the 2017-2018 season and tournament run. Here's to that happening during the 2019-2020 season with whomever is our coach.
Go Trojans!!

Here is some out of the box thinking. Hire Luke Murray (Bill Murray's son). Currently an assistant at Louisville under Chris Mack and served with him at Xavier. If nothing else he knows how to recruit and we could get Bill Murray to attend some games Option B: promte Rigby to men's coach and hire a women's coach. No way in #$%! she could be worse than PC

Dear Leader would be able to bask in the limelight for hiring Rigby or get plenty of photo ops with Bill Murray - on campus or in LAX.

I’m sure Rigby could do the job and promoting Neil Harrow as the Head women’s coach would be a good way to go. However not sure a woman coach would get the same respect as a men’s coach would. Thinking of recruiting as well.

Go Trojans!! He's in his sixth year, with only one winning season, and you think he can turn it around? We had our best team in YEARS last season... we were projected as one of the top mid-major teams in the pre-season from various media outlets... had a line-up with Jordon Varnado, Wesley Person, Juan Davis Jr., BJ Miller, Alex Hicks, Javan Johnson, Malik Burnett... and we didn't even finish the season with a winning record. He can snag the best recruits in the Sun Belt, and we would never accomplish any large milestones. I mean come on! He had Varnado and Person for 4 years! Two of the best players in all of mid-major basketball! And we didn't do crap with them except make ONE end-of-season run to the NCAA's. Phil Cunningham needs to go. No more chances. If he's not gone, you're going to see a spectacular display of discontent and yet another year of a decreasing interest by fans. The student turnout is at its lowest I've ever seen in many years.

FYI: We won the Sunbelt conference outright in 2010...in the Concrete Box and were competitive for almost two decades in that dump. We won multiple conference titles, made two final fours and somehow grew tired of Maestri and Flex after a few bad seasons. Now the program is a complete dumpster fire. A COMPLETE DUMPSTER FIRE and many of you clowns thought this guy was the answer because he recruited so well. What a waste of six years.

Other than that, they finished 7th in the conference and had to play the extra game on Wednesday night. We are currently ranked 271 in the NET rankings with a laundry list of embarrassing sad schools ahead of us. New Jersey Tech. IUPUFW. UMass-Lowell. UT-Rio Grande Valley. California Baptist. Jax State.

Hey! I guess it's all decided, let's give Cunningham an extension, a raise, a new car, and, aw, hell, let's pay off his mortgage while we're at it. We KNOW we're in great hands now!
