Men’s team is playing tomorrow night on ESPN2
This team has a lot of upperclassmen, leaders who stayed around. Yes, it is sad and I feel bad for them but let’s hope we can finish strong and get above .500, these guys deserve at least that.

Means nothing unless you have a coach that can actually coach good basketball... What would your opinion be about coaching if your team was only shooting average .378 FG %, .72 FT% and averaging over 20 turnovers per game??

Why do you think Troy only averages .378 FG %?
It's because there is such a terrible offensive game plan that's been implemented. Look at Georgia State... they have such a great offensive game plan, and they get the ball into the paint constantly, which leads them to make layups or take short jump shots. Thus, they shoot at a high-percentage. Troy only had 22 points in the paint. All other points either came from 3-point shots or shots outside the paint, which obviously are not high-percentage shots. Troy has been getting DOMINATED in the paint. And that is because of coaching, and no other reason.
Even Little Rock, who has less than 10 wins on the season, piled up 44 points in the paint on Troy, versus Troy only getting 22 points. And they whooped us.
Why do you think Troy is averaging 20 turnovers per game?
Sure, players need to be more aware when passing the ball, etc... but the lack of reading opposing defenses is what's the killer. And that's on coaching. Troy also turns the ball over quite a bit in the key when driving to the bucket. Why? Because of poor screening/blocking, which is directly related to poor coaching.
It's just like football. When you run a screen play, the WR's must block properly, otherwise the play won't go anywhere. Troy football has been great at screen plays because of great coaching. Troy sucked at it when we had bad coaching back in 2011-2014 that didn't teach good blocking techniques.

I mean, freakin Jax State... JAX STATE... is about to have their third-straight 20+ win season, third-straight postseason berth, and possibly another conference title. And they play in a 45-year-old concrete box, have very little basketball tradition, they've never won a Division I conference title until two years ago, and none of their players are even rated by recruiting services. Yet here they sit, with an 18-8 record, 10-3 in conference, and have two wins over Top-50 RPI teams.
What do you think the difference is between Troy and Jax State basketball?

Poor coaching??

This performance is eerily similar to some of the ragged and undisciplined ones we saw from the football team in 2014. Love the Trojans and hate to see this level of struggling.

Poor coaching?? Women's team is very, very well coached. However the system she runs has an achilles heal and that is when they go cold it produces quick turnovers and if the other team gets hot when we go cold you see those stats. All in all I really like the system she runs. I just wish that she would slow it down when we have big leads late but she never takes her foot off the throttle.

Humiliating loss to Georgia Southern last night anyway you cut it. Hopefully when the starting five get back we can at least go to the tournament.

Hopefully when the starting five get back we can at least go to the tournament. Why? This program has been the definition of mediocrity or below ever since DM got run off. Bring him back. If Kansas State did it, so can we. We have a whole generation of students and fans that have no clue about how awesome TMTDM basketball was. Sad. Forget #RTW. The legacy of Don and Flex have been buried deeper than the terracotta soldiers. We need to unearth the wall. What a waste of great facilities.

Why would we want Maestri back? So we can go back to getting the left over Juco players in a 100 mile radius of Troy? Good coach once but just like LB he got old, complacent and lazy in recruiting. We need young, hungry and aggressive.

Maestris worse years were much better than this dumpster fire. Those left over Juco players won our last conference title in 2010. How they won anything, especially during the transition years is beyond me. His model worked better than whatever model we are using today. Not even arguable at this point. I agree on the young, hungry and aggressive part though. I would prefer somebody NOT from Mississippi. Who is the youngest Assistant Coach at Duke? Hire him.

I want the Jax State coach... He wins. He just has to take a LONG bath in the strongest sanitizer known to man to get the Jax State stench off him.

Maestri is a better coach than PC that isn't even debatable. My problem with him at the end was he knew he had the Arena coming and didn't try to recruit a HS player. He stayed with the lazy left over juco player formula that started the down fall. Perpetual rebuilding every year. Had he put any effort at the end he would be winning games still at Troy
