Hello Troy fans.
Mean Green Fan here.
We seem to be in full panic mode in Denton. Your coach has been mentioned in lock step with ours with every coaching vacancy.
It seems like Littrell is a foregone conclusion for the KState job.
Neal Brown seems like a much better candidate. (I'm not being snarky...he's accomplished more that Littrell...and I honestly don't understand why Brown is not getting more attention....I wish we had him)
Why are you not freaking out?

Probably because we have a long history of success even before Brown. We have confidence we will make a good hire if we do lose him. And right now I don’t feel like we are going to lose him.
There’s a few fans here concerned but nothing serious right now. We are more focused on having our 3rd 10+ win season in a row with a bowl win.

OK...I didn't know I was going to get a rational response.
I'm going back to the UNT site.

We love coach Brown but this is Troy and to be honest, our offense has been a bit weak last two seasons. Our defense has been great. I think we would be more upset if we lost Vic Koenning.

OK...I didn't know I was going to get a rational response. I'm going back to the UNT site. ok, so. You must understand, as we understand, that Troy is a stepping stone opportunity for college professionals, be it athletics, teaching staff, administrative, whatever. At Troy, change is the only thing that remains the same. We hope for the best, but prepare for the challenge!! GOTrojans!

The job or jobs Neil would consider either did not open or was not asked. Don't expect him to leave unless it was always in his plan.

Cause we are Troy... Our tradition of winning doesn't hang on the shoulders of one man or men.
Neal Brown and staff are awesome, but the Normal School will March on!

A - We don't believe that he is a top candidate for the K-State job anyways B - Coach Brown has been with us for four years now and we may have him for another year, this is more than we expected C - He is replaceable, even though CNB got us new facilities, re-built the wall, got us wins over LSU and Nebraska, even ranked for a week - which is great, but we want more. Next season, we will return many starters and key back-ups and the schedule is quite favorable. Most Troy fans expect a Western Michigan/2016 type of season next season. Let's see if CNB can do this for us....

Let’s dig into this a little more. Let’s say ithe school had given LB the money they gave Neal to go get VK and company..could we have accomplished the same results the last 4 years? I’m not sure we win ALL those games but CLB was handcuffed when it came to trying to get coaches. Our offense was just fine and the biggest difference has been on D and special teams. I’m a big Neal fan and I’m really glad we have him and hope we keep him for a while. But like most here, I’m more concerned about losing VK than Neal!

As someone said earlier the "Troy Train" keeps rolling. I think we will have Coach Brown (Great coach for our program) another season and I expect great results next year. If its time for him to expand upon his coaching career, I wish him well. Next man up!
Go Trojans!

Coach Neal Brown is a good young football coach who is winning games and his name will be mention in several job searches. However, for him to get to the Power 5 job, he will need to win Championships consistently, have consistency after winning big games, not the normal let down. If you look at the coaches who made the jump from Group of 5 to Power 5, such as PJ Fleek, Guz MaLzahn, Hugh Freeze, Tom Herman, and Scott Frost... those guys were winning games and winning Championships.
However, I honesty think the injury to K. Barber and the lost to Liberty really hurt Coach Brown chances this year. To add to this, the offense he oversees has been ranked in the upper 50's the last couple of years. However, if he has another 10 win season, top 25 ranking, and Sunbelt Championship then we might be in need for a new coach.
Go Troy

CLB recruited way too many JCs and non-qualifiers. Every year we had a bunch of JCs who didn’t even make it to fall camp. This system wasn’t sustainable anymore.

We had quite a few who never qualified.....but but but if we had been UAB like the past two years they could.

The miracle of their resurrection is not quite as big a miracle as assumed.

The miracle of their resurrection is not quite as big a miracle as assumed. I agree. UABs roster is full of Sr Transfers, they will be an avg CUSA team next year (at best).

Wasn't ua'sb allowed to recruit as many as they wanted the first two seasons when they came back? That could play a part in it.
I remember Bill Clark still wasn't satisfied with the NCAA's social justice and tried to get them to allow "exhibition" and "practice" games scheduled.

LB got way to lax on discipline and character on some players. That had nothing to do with money and facilities. NB was up to his eye balls with some player problems and discipline issues when he took over. We only know the half of how bad it was. I had a son and daughter who attended Troy and they couldn't believe how some football players acted. One cussed out a professor that they had a class with. Proud to say we have corrected these issues. And I agree with you on VK. If we lose him that will be devestating
