This was a great win today, a hard fought battle between two good football teams. Below are some random thoughts about the game:
The end result was wonderful. We got a lead and then went into time management mode which forced LaLa to alter their game plan. Because we were able to burn clock, they had to start trying to throw the ball in order to get big chunks of yardage in short periods of time. This played right into our strength. We got to Munoz and made some big plays. That doesn't mean that I was comfortable or that I wasn't screaming for us to throw the ball (I was) but it worked today and we won. How we won is immaterial and I'm not the one being paid to make that happen, so I'll just come along for the ride. It sure is fun.
We play "Next Man Up" better than anybody I've ever seen. Douglas goes down, Willis has >200 yds receiving. Jones and Rookard are unable to play, Dunlap steps in and does a stellar job at safety and punt returns, (EDIT - Knudsen steps in for Rookard on defense and has a stellar game, in spite of the fact that he is a former walk one WR. I say former, because he was awarded a scholarship today). Drives stall, Sumpter ties a school record for number of field goals in a game (4). We are deep with quality players and it shows.
Related to the previous point, we lose a lot of seniors off this team after this season and next year will be an opportunity for multiple guys to make their mark. Some of them are already doing that. This is the part of that situation that really has my attention. We have very few juniors starting on this squad. Most, not all, but most, of the starters are seniors or sophomores. The '20 season should be VERY interesting.
There was a big question when the season started about who was going to replace Chunn. That question has been answered. Smith is a great running back and today he gained 100 yds on the ground for the 5th consecutive game. He broke Arrid Gregory's record of 4 such games today. We found our running back.
Today, Sawyer showed the skills that made some say he should have been the starter over Barker. He dropped some beautiful throws in a basket on go routes, including the long TD pass to Willis. We have 2 quality QB's and we can win with either.
This team is fun to watch. Can we win out? Oh yeah. Will we? Time will tell, but I'm counting on being in Troy on December 1. How about you?

You know..we just find a a way to get it done.O jumps out early and the D always steps up and makes plays when necessary late in the game! I’m getting where I expect both and you know what...I’ll kind of like it!! HAVOC!!

I think we are a good team. If we were a little healthier, we could be a great team. Smith is coming along, but I think Willis will be double covered here on out, so he needs to find the other receivers. Running game could have gotten going a little bit earlier this game. The bad snaps have to stop! Illegal substitution needs to be fixed. Other than that, if we can get going next week and sustain into the second half, I think we get a win.
--- nevermind on the scenario stuff.

What is with the ball snaps?
Same question for kick offs. Why isn't Sumpter the one booting it?

I am pleased with the W. I do however hope to never see a drive again where BJ and Jabir and driving straight forward for 1st after 1st after 1st down and we say "Hey how bout we throw a dangerous toss sweep in the mix". Its weird and don't make sense.
Sawyer is dialing it in. We are in the race for the East after losing a QB that had hit his stride and could have started for any team in the country at the time.
The defense gave a Hot Louisiana team fits. Tron lit it up. They will be the key to not letting a one loss Southern or App team represent the East.
DT is ready for 12:00pm Saturday and is entertaining the idea of making the trip. Who all is heading to Statesboro?

We had a good crowd last time and it was fun even though they pull the old Ark St trick and put visitors as far from the field as possible.

Willis is a heck of a receiver too. Heard he is getting a look from NFL Scouts. Only 11 seniors this year. Watch out Missouri!

We have some real athletes. Having seen Troy and Auburn play this year, Willis , Folsom and B.J.Smith could all start for Auburn. All 3 could have a chance to be drafted.

What is with the ball snaps? Same question for kick offs. Why isn't Sumpter the one booting it? I wonder if that was a strategy decision. Given the success their returner had, I wonder if our plan was to kick short (inside the 15) in hopes that they would fair catch the ball. I say this because I watched the warm ups before the game and at the half. Both Underwood and Legassey were kicking the ball deep into the end zone with every kick. There was no issue with wind and neither was hurt. The kicks appeared to be intentionally short, for what ever reason. On a somewhat related note, as I said I watched the warmups. Their kicker REPEATEDLY pushed to the right his practice kicks from the left hash, 29 yard line. The kick he missed in game was exactly the one he had missed in warmups and the kick spot was probably within 1 square foot area of where the practice kicks were spotted. When the holder knelt down and marked the spot for the kick, I told those around me he was gonna push it right and why. I wish I could always predict play results that well, I'd be rich.😂

Two of us will be making our first trip to Statesboro. Can’t wait.
As for the bad snaps. CNB mentioned Deonta was hurt, after his 2nd terrible snap, they pulled him. Not sure of the injury but certainly have to get that fixed.
I think the kick offs were all strategic. I for one would like to see the rotation stay the same. Sumpter is on fire in the other two portions of the kicking game. I’d rather not wear him out.

The first Zaxby's was in Statesboro, GA. Little known fact right there! The Boro is a cool place. Many fans are holier than thou type but they have a great tradition and Troy vs. GA Southern should be everything a November game should be! Can't wait.

Two of us will be making our first trip to Statesboro. Can’t wait. All Troy fans are more than welcomed to the Boro. Go to gsufanforum (talon talk) and hook up there for tail gate info/a little smack talk, you'd be entertained to say the least. Just ignore some of our student fans and things should go okay.

Saint wouldn't make it out of the Paulson stadium parking lot much less enter our stadium. His stink fear of a loss would be overwhelming and detected to no end.
