And our traditional let down game after a big win.

Come Monday is where CNB will earn his money. He would have learned a ton from the aftermath of the LSU win last year. I believe he will get the kids focused and the program tracking toward ULM.

And our traditional let down game after a big win. Losing to ULM (in a close game) wouldn't be a real let down game. ULM is quite tough, that's what worries me. We need to play very physical, that's how TX A&M played them last night.

We always have a tough time in Monroe. The year escapes me. but once we had a game winning 60? yarder hit the bottom of the crossbar there. ULM has slayed a giant too. Beat Alabama in Saban's first year in Tuscaloosa.

Beat Alabama in Saban's first year in Tuscaloosa. Yes sir. Our former HC use to set us up big with all that, " I don't like to play down there, it's just a high school atmosphere, we just don't ever play well in Monroe" dribble. You won't hear that from CNB. We'll just have to go over there and take care of business!!

ULM fan here. I want to welcome y'all that head over to Monroe for the game Saturday. I will be out early tailgating. Plenty of folks will be there and willing to share beer, food and swap stories and maybe talk a little friendly smack. Don't think you will find anyone negative about in the Grove so come early, bring an extra chair and some beer and I am sure you will find a place to sit down in the shade and make some new friends.
From our (my) perspective, this will be a test of where we truly are this season. We had hoped that the defense would improve and so far it has done so. Not going to be a dominate D but bending and not breaking as it did last year. Really showed up against USM. Not sure if that is because USM is way down or we got that much better. Probably a bit of both. Been playing much better against the run this year and our DBs don't look like lost true freshmen, like they were last year. As for our offense, must of us have been a little disappointed. The A&M game showed that we could move but then make silly penalties to stall drives. Evans seems to be a little off this year. Underthrew Green badly, causing him to wait. 5 more yards and it is a TD, then we aren't kicking a FG that gets blocked for a TD. Hopefully, for us, he comes out and balls.
For those of you heading to Monroe, be safe traveling. If you have any questions about where to stay or places to go, let me know. Come by Tailgate 520. I always have cold beer.

We were looking at this game last season as one that was scary. ULM is certainly on the uptick and this game scares me to death, regardless of what happened at Nebraska.

TROY is my pick'em this week with mid-confidence. I'm believing that CNB can break the mental cycle of the up, then down game.

ULM is going to be a hard win to get this weekend for Troy. I hate that this game is up next for Troy coming off the big Nebraska victory. I think Troy needs to consider playing their once a year FCS game the week after their once a year power 5 game.

Come Monday is where CNB will earn his money. He would have learned a ton from the aftermath of the LSU win last year. I believe he will get the kids focused and the program tracking toward ULM. Monday Press Conference- CNB clip- "Offensively they spread you out, they are multiple in what they do, and they are difficult to defend. The quarterback [Caleb] Evans, throws the ball down the field extremely well. He does a nice job running, he creates a lot of plays with his feet. [Marcus] Green is probably one of the best receivers in the league. He's dynamic and we have to know where he is at all the time. Then they have an outside receiver in [RJ] Turner who has made a ton of plays the last two years over the top and he's a huge deep ball threat. They are big at running back, their running backs remind me of the guys that we had here the past two years in Josh Anderson and Jordan Chunn. They are big kids that get downhill, are difficult to tackle and their offensive line is as good as anybody in our league. "Defensively, they have changed up their front from a year ago. I think they are a really improved unit. They fly around and play with tons of energy. Up front they have [Sam Miller] and [Donald Louis, Jr.] who are really active second effort guys. They have two linebackers that remind me of Tron [Folsom] in [David Griffith] and [Cortez Sisco, Jr.], they are undersized, but they make a ton of plays. The secondary is going to challenge us, they are going to play man and see if we can win. Special teams, the key for us is that we have to tackle and contain Green. He is their punt returner, kickoff returner, he returned four kicks for touchdowns last year. Going on the road for your first conference game is difficult to win. We are going to have to play the best game to get the win." Neal Brown

I expect a tough game. With that said, Norm is ready to make his predictions. It took a lot of coaxing and encouragement and bribery with his favorite jalapeno flavored ants to get this weeks weather report. You see he is still pretending to be blind and now he is listening to old Stevie Wonder songs over and over. Anyway I digress. The weather he says is going to be hot and humid! It is going to be in the low 90's during the day and in the eve around kickoff time will be low mid 80's with just a tad of humidity at around 90%. I guess you don't have to be a weather Aardvark to guess at that one. Anyway, due to his Claimed disability we have him in AA. I was surprised to find a support group for Aardvark anxiety so I signed him up. He has only been to two meetings so far but says things are going well. He describes it like he does his weather forecasts. He says the 12 steps to a better day despite the weather is to have these little chips that number the weeks and months. I have no idea what he is talking about. So for you guys going the bottom line is this. Wear deodorant, dress lightly, and scream like heck. Lastly, Norm predicts that Troy will have 35 points and that the Duck Hunters will have 27. GO TROJANS!!!

This years ULM reminds me a lot of Troy 2016.
Coming off a improved ULM 2017,(2nd year HC) they beat Southern Miss, and play Texas A&M hard. Now it’s on to Troy where they can get a statement win like we did with App State in 2016.
We better be ready.....

I think the real test will be handling success. We've been unable to do it in the past. Beat Mizzou in 2004 lost the next week to New Mexico State. Got ranked #25 got slaughtered at home against Arkansas State. Beat LSU laid an egg at home against South Alabama. I believe what makes this year different than all the others is virtually everyone who experienced the USA let down is still here so they know to be weary. This week is the big test. Can we handle success and beat a good ULM team on the road? If we can pass this test then I think we'll be okay.
