Yeah... but we need to be realistic and understand that people aren't going to want to come out and watch the men's team when they lose more than they win. Not even students are going to be interested in watching Troy basketball struggle. Yeah, they're on a nice 2-game win streak now, but overall the season has been less than stellar. If this team was having a great season similar to ULL (who's currently 20-4 right now), then attendance would be higher. History proves that.
As for the women's team, they do deserve better attendance. They've had three-straight 20-win seasons and two NCAA appearances. Not real sure why attendance hasn't gotten much better over the years. Maybe it's going to take a breakout season where they go 25-4 or something and win an NCAA First Round game. Take Middle Tennessee for example... they had attendance similar to ours until 2004 when they went 24-8, won the Sun Belt, and upset #11 North Carolina in the NCAA tournament in the first round. They're attendance got even better in 2007 when they went 30-4, were ranked in the Top 25, won the Sun Belt, and beat Gonzaga in the NCAA Tourney.
Ever since then, MT has been averaging anywhere from 3,500 to 4,000 for women's basketball games...
Those are called fair weather fans. Their support is nice. Their complaints go unheard.
